Dexter Yager Obituary
Dexter was born to Leonard and Gertrude Yager December 6, 1939 in Fulton, New York. He married his wife, Birdie Narehood in 1957 at the age of 17. Together, they raised seven children and moved their family from Rome, NY to Charlotte, NC in 1969.
Dexter is survived by his wife, Birdie of 61 years, their children and spouses; Dexter Jr., Doyle and Holly, April and Michael, Lisa, Jeff and Rhonda, Leanne and Tim, Steven and Cecile, 27 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, his brother, Richard and sister, Lillian.
"Dex" fulfilled his life purpose as a devoted Christian, lover of freedom, country, husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, businessman, entrepreneur and author. He shared his faith and free enterprise principles freely with anyone who would listen…. and millions did
He started many businesses over the years but his first and most successful was his own independent Amway distributorship that he and his wife Birdie started 54 years ago. They were the first to achieve many of the highest levels in the Amway business which spread to more than 80 countries. The Yager name, philosophies and methods became synonymous with success within the direct selling, multi-level marketing industry.
A public celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019, at Elevation Church - Ballantyne, 11701 Elevation Point Drive, Charlotte, NC 28277. There is no invitation required and the service is open to all of the public. At this time, we are not planning to broadcast the service. As we are not sure how many people to expect, we want to encourage people who plan to attend the Celebration of Life to allow time for parking, getting inside the building and getting seated. We are asking that you let us know you are planning to attend by clicking on the link http://celebrationoflife.rsvpify.com. The link is also available on www.Legacy.com.

some arrogant punk-a kid comes to one of your events, and you shook his hand...never mentioning your position, rank, or income...and instilled the seed of a dream that has carried him through the good and bad times, as well as even the battlefields of iraq.

Because of Mr. Yager's Sunday services I came to know Christ! So sorry to read of the passing of Dex's death. We had known him when we were in Indianapolis and Chattanooga. He was a great friend and mentor at the time. Had many good times with him on the trips that we all had in common as well. Dex was able to influence many people to help them come out of their shell and explore what they did not think was possible, but was possible with them all the time. This was the case with Charles, Husband and Father. When we first met Dex, Charlie could not lead a crowd in silent Prayer. But that all changed! Dexter was a true disciple of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Dear Mr. Dexter Yager ~ You Sir, were Faithful and True to Him to feed His sheep with selflessness and Joy, and leading others to become His sheep. You truly fulfilled Jesus' admonition to the Apostle Peter (John 21:17) that by loving God, Jesus and His Holy Spirit with Agape (Divine Love), you have indeed, fed His sheep.
You have gloriously fulfilled the Calling He placed within you to be His disciple because you always displayed His Love to others. (John 13:34-35)
Dearest Birdie, who alongside of your precious husband, have done, and are still doing, the same; as are the entire Yager Family. Thank You!
