Diana Binder

Diana Binder nee Lipkin, age 76.

Beloved wife of Jerrold Binder. Dear daughter of the late Benjamin (Yummy) and the late Olive Lipkin. Cherished sister of the late Alan Lipkin. She was a loving sister-in-law to Linda, Alvin and Gregory (Beverly) Binder. Aunt Diana to Joey, Julia, Justin, Emily and Amy and Auntie Deena to many cousins, close friends and to their godson, David. Diana will always be remembered for her will to live and her kindness to all that met her.

Diana grew up in Chicago and worked with her mother at Green Thumb plant shop. She met the love of her life Jerry at Mayfair Junior College in Chicago at the young age of 19. They married 3 1/2 years later and became known as Jerry and Diana. They were very fortunate to celebrate 53 years of marriage together and always by each other's side like two puzzle pieces.

Diana and Jerry were not blessed with their own children but they loved their nieces and nephews, cousins and godson immensely, never missing a birthday or a special occasion. Diana was a lover of her fur babies, growing up with Siamese Cats, then raising 3 Corgis, Stoney, Frankie and Scarlette and then recently they enjoyed the company of 2 hamsters Caramel and Bailey.

Diana wore many hats from working in the flower shop with her mom, to being a community service officer, fulfilling pledges at channel 11 and finally an accountant after getting her bachelor's degree from Roosevelt University in computer science and accounting. She was brought up loving Irish Heritage. As fate would have it, the college where Jerry and Diana met became the Irish American Heritage Center. Jerry and Diana loved Irish music, going to pubs, dancing the night away, and going to the events at the Irish Center. Diana unfortunately was born with lungs that were always being challenged and eventually took her life. She was hospitalized so much, and Jerry was always right by her side, even at the end he was holding her hand, looking into her eyes when she took her last breath. While she had weak lungs, she always had a heart of gold.

Visitation Wednesday at 10 AM with funeral service to follow at 11 AM at Chicago Jewish Funerals, 8851 Skokie Blvd (at Niles Center Road), Skokie. Interment Zion Gardens Cemetery.
