Our beloved mother, Diana Sue Burger, at the age of 100, passed peacefully in her home on July 18, 2025. Born on August 10, 1924, in New York City, New York, to loving parents, Yolanda Yetta and Eugene Farkas, she and her late sister Stella resided in New York until she married and moved to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
She successfully overcame several obstacles throughout her lifetime. Her greatest accomplishment, among several, was raising her three successful children as a single mother. She always beamed with pride at her three children's accomplishments. Dr. Richard Eidelson, a cosmetic dentist; Dr. Stewart Eidelson, an orthopedic spine surgeon; and her daughter Sharon Eidelson, a medical technologist, who never left her side. Diana was a performer throughout her lifetime. As a young child vocalist, she performed in New York City's Yiddish Theatre Company. She embraced the throngs of audiences, featured on several television shows and broadcasts, many of Arthur Godfrey's variety shows from the 1940s to 1950s. A distance swimmer her entire life, the city of Palm Beach's lifeguards would often observe her swimming long distances along the beaches of BeachPoint condominiums, until well into her 60s. Her hallmark is that of a strong, independent woman with a dry sense of humor, passed down from her late father, Eugene Farkas, who was a comedian, her large, round, stylish glasses, without which she never left home, her positivity, and her fur wallets and key chains. She loved striking up conversations with people wherever she went, and by the end of a daytime or evening, no matter when or where, Diana became the most interesting center of attention, leading the conversation, and making any daytime or evening into a joyful and fun event. Her strong fashion sense, combined with her business skills, enabled her to design original jewelry pieces and novelties made of fur. Being an Entrepreneur from her humble beginnings, led her to pioneer an international jewelry business. The success of the business enabled her to relocate from Philadelphia to
Palm Beach, Florida, where she lived at first, with her loving husband and stepfather to her three children, Robert Burger, until his passing. She lived in Palm Beach until her passing.
In addition to her loving children, Dr. Richard Eidelson and his wife Barbara, Dr. Stewart Eidelson and his fiancée, Tara Udelson, and Sharon Eidelson, Diana also leaves behind her five loving grandchildren and two living grandsons, Elizabeth Eidelson, Dr. David Eidelson and his wife Michelle and great-grandchild Landon Eddie, Dr. Sarah Eidelson and her husband Fran, Dr. Mandy Eidelson-Guirguis and her husband Nassef, and her great-grandson Nile Michael Chaim, Erica Eidelson (Einfeldt) and her husband Brian. She will be missed by her loving nieces, Nikki and Gigi, and her loving caregivers, Ernesto and Alma. Her remarkable spirit, quick wit, love she shared, and her legacy will be cherished by all who knew her and loved her.
