Diane Urquhart Alford, 66 of Phenix City, AL, passed away Sunday, June 12, 2011 at Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. EDT, Wednesday, June 15, 2011 in the chapel of Striffler-Hamby Mortuary, 3770 Hwy 431 N., Phenix City, AL with Rev. Eric Estes officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mrs. Alford was born September 15, 1944 in Columbus, Georgia, daughter of the late John W. and Mary Alice Brown Urquhart. She was retired from the State of Alabama after 20 years of service as a legal assistant, was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, was an avid reader, loved to decorate and loved to travel.
Survivors include her husband of 29 years, Tharon E. Alford, II of Phenix City, AL, daughters, Gina Sue Pippins of Slocumb, AL, Krystal Brooke Fairall of Phenix City, AL, sister, Emily Sue Brassell and husband Doug of Columbus, GA, grandchildren, Destiny Paige Armstrong, February Melody Armstrong, Paisley Marina Armstrong, Aramis Storm Armstrong, Marki Denim Armstrong, special grandson, Colby Blake Patterson, great grandchild, Halen Mae McCrary, special friends, Patricia and Bubba Roberts and beloved dog "Allie".
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the ALS Association of North Alabama, 3313 Memorial Parkway SW, Huntsville, AL 35801

Hi, Nana It is colby. I just wanted to tell you some memories that we had in my lifetime. But before I start i just want to say that lord is taking care of you and that I know your with me always and papa loves you so much and you and papa were the best thing that ever happened to me and you will always be beside me and that i will never ever forget.
well i what to tell you remember the time that papa you and me went to cherokee,north carolina and that. remember when we used to g to florida and i used to get up at like 7:00 a.m. and say i am going to the park.And that is all my memories i can think of love you ,nana. R.I.P.!
