Family-Placed Death Notice

CLAUSEN, Diane Diane Elaine Clausen May 20, 1959 - September 13, 2011 Birds were singing the day Diane Elaine was born. She would listen for them on every birthday morning. Diane had many attributes that drew others to find friendship with her. A passion of family, travel and the allure of extravagance had her living the "Diva Life". Her smile was contagious and remembered by all. Diane's love for God and her children spilled into the lives of others. She mentored children in her church's AWANA group for several years, leading them to Christ. Born in Bemidji, Minnesota, Diane's family moved to the Northwest Territories, Canada shortly after birth. She lived there for five years before returning to Minnesota. In 1977, Diane graduated from High School in Monticello, MN. In 1987, Diane moved to Arizona, where she met her husband Lee when they both worked at America West Airlines. She enjoyed her job as a Flight Attendant, but relinquished this position when she relocated to Atlanta when Lee started at Delta Air Lines. There, Diane dedicated herself to the raising of their daughters. Diane returned to the work force several years ago, resuming the career she enjoyed as a Flight Attendant for Freedom Airlines. She was based in New York City, then Cincinnati, where she worked with her sister once again. She thrived in her environment and made many new and close acquaintances. Diane's struggle with her illness lasted dose to two years when it overcame her. She continued to work over half this time. She remained positive and held concern for others to the very last days. She was in the warmth of her home when she left us, Tuesday morning to be with our Lord. She leaves behind Lee, her husband of over 20 years and two daughters, Paige and Brooke, who are as lovely as their mother; mother Harriet Simmons, brother Keith (Dawnell) Simmons, brother Randy Simmons, sister Jan (Rick) Prieb, stepmother MaryAnn Simmons, sister Rebekah (Nathan) Almond and brother Lawrence David (Becky) Simmons along with nieces: Lauren, Celine, Katherine, Elizabeth and nephews Andrew, Stephen, John, Graham, Janson, Alex and Peter. She was preceded in death by her father, Lawrence Simmons. Services will be held on Sunday, September 18, 2011 at 2pm at Community Bible Church in the Chapel, 2001 Jodeco Road, Stockbridge, GA 302811. Premier Crematory LLC (770)761-2304.

Diane was as beautiful on the inside as she was on the outside. She had a great, offbeat sense of humor that I will miss. She was always so positive. It is a comfort that we will see her again one day. I pray for God to pour out His comfort and grace on her family and friends.

My thoughts and prayers are with Diane's family right now. I did not know her personally as a close friend, but would see and speak to her @ church. May the Holy Spirit comfort Lee, Paige & Brooke and the family. Lynn Castillo(McDonough)

What I am feeling right now is hard to put into words. Diane was always a positive inspiration to her gym friends and acquaintances. A special prayer will be said for Diane and her family today.
