Mrs. Doerfler was an inspiration to me also. I graduated from Central in 1976. Her advanced comp class was difficult, yet transformational. It laid the ground for me to enjoy a life of learning and a love of writing. As the adviser for the yearbook, she knew how to step aside and let us run with it. Throughout my career and to this day, I rely on all she taught me.

Mrs. Doerfler (Diane), was an inspiration to me as a student at Brookfield Central. She may have been one of the first teachers I had who helped me understand what it might be to lead a "life of the mind." Her humor, insight, and uncompromising excellence were an inspiration. She truly made a difference, especially to some students who might have felt like they were square pegs in round holes.
