Diane Dunker Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 7, 2012.
Diane Leyse Dunker, 49, passed away on February 7th. She was born and raised in Sioux Falls, SD and graduated from the University of SD with a degree in Nursing. She and Mark Dunker were married in 1984 and moved to the Black Hills area. They lived in Pierre, SD for several years before moving to Brunswick in 2001. Mark and Diane have three children: Jon, Emily, and Tim. At the time of her death, Diane was a graphic artist at Shirt Tales in Brunswick. She was a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday school for several years, and was active in the Glynn Academy Band boosters. She was a devoted wife and mother, sister and daughter, and a caring and thoughtful friend. She used her gift of creativity to enrich the lives of everyone she knew. She will be missed by many loyal friends from all around the country. She was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Leyse. Grateful to have shared her life are her loving husband Mark, and their children, father Walt Leyse and brothers Dave and Jim, Sioux Falls, sister Nancy Logan (Ken) of Gainesville, Florida, along with Mark's parents, Ken and Norma Dunker of Sioux Falls as well as several in-laws and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Friday at 4pm at First Baptist Church of Brunswick. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made to the Sioux Falls Area Foundation "Doris Leyse Camp Scholarship" fund or to the Glynn Academy Band Boosters.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Edo Miller and Sons Funeral Home and Oglethorpe Crematorium in Brunswick, GA www.edomillerandsons.com

To the Leyse and Dunker family,
I had the privilige of working with Diane one summer as a camp counselor at Camp Tepeetonka. Her smile was angelic and her camp kids followed her around like little puppy dogs eager for each new adventure with her. She will be missed, however I am certain she has taken on a pair of wings in heaven and will spread much joy and goodwill to many others. Godspeed, Phil Olson
