Diane Jean Etzel
May 22, 1954 - December 21, 2022
West Richland, Washington - Diane Jean Etzel, a devoted mother, grandmother, and faithful Christian, passed away on December 21st, 2022 at the Chaplaincy Hospice House, surrounded by her loving family. Diane was born on May 22nd, 1954 in Hinsdale, Illinois, the third daughter of Theresa and Sylvester Becker (deceased). She was an avid baker and an attentive listener, always ready to lend a listening ear to those in need. Whether it was planning the next gathering or visiting near and far family and friends, Diane maintained connections and deeply cared for others. Her greatest gift was her time and easy smile.
Diane met her husband, Bruce, while working for the Aurora Beacon Newspaper and driving her brand-new Chevy Vega. The two embarked on a cross-country adventure, making homes in Fort Myers, FL and Puyallup, WA before settling in Grandview, WA for 38 years. In her career, Diane held various positions, including legal secretary and Sunday School teacher, before committing herself to a life of volunteering and raising her sons, Ryan and Brent. She was an active member of Messiah Lutheran and supported various community activities.
As a Becker, crafting was in Diane's blood, and she generously shared her skills with all those around her. She was a treasured mentor and friend to many, known for her kind and generous spirit, keen intellect, and positive energy. In her free time, Diane enjoyed gardening, being an honest cardshark, and trying new things. She also supported the family passion for fishing and was known in the family for catching the biggest King salmon.
Diane is survived by her adoring husband Bruce Etzel, her sons Ryan and Brent Etzel, daughters-in-law Ester Etzel and Diane Dentinger, and her beloved grandchildren Adelyn, Clayton, and Grant. She is also survived by her siblings Susan (David) Rolison, Maryanne (Chriss - deceased) Siverly, Robert (Beverly) Becker, Barbara (Timothy) Stevens, Ann (Michael) Hacker, Patricia (James) Housh, Donna (Karl) Diede, and Edward Becker.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 21st, 2023, at Messiah Lutheran Church in Prosser. The service will be held from 10:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m., followed by an Inurnment Ceremony at the Prosser Cemetery Association. The reception will return to the Messiah Lutheran Church from 12:00 noon until 2:00 p.m.
The family is deeply grateful for the outpouring of love, care, and support they have received during this time. Your kindness and concern mean so much. May God bless you all.
