Diane (Morrissey) Baur Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 25, 2024.
Diane Elaine (Morrissey) Baur of Orlando FL passed away peacefully at home on March 4, 2024, at 78 years old.

She was born on April 17, 1945 to the late Robert Francis & Mary Esther (MacTaggart) Morrissey. Diane spent most of her young adult life in Danbury CT where she waitressed in many establishments including the Exit 10 Diner, in addition to working for the Eaton Corporation in Bethel, CT. She later moved to Fredericksburg Virginia with her husband Frank Baur where they lived and worked for many years before opting for a slower paced life of retirement in Brookneal VA.

Along with her love for her large extended family Diane had a passion for animals and Elvis, collecting quite a bit of Elvis memorabilia. She also enjoyed cooking, gardening and bluegrass music. She was always happiest when hosting a house full of family and friends at her annual Christmas Eve party and when attending weekend Bluegrass Festivals which she & Frank did together often.

Diane was preceded in death by her husband Frank Baur, her parents Robert Francis & Mary Esther (MacTaggart) Morrissey, her sisters Sharon Stasny, Robin Coffey and Deb Brey; her stepson Matthew Baur and her granddaughter Kaitlyn Knapp.

Diane is survived by her children Karl Knapp (Diane) and Tracey (Knapp) Cunningham, Claude Mendes, Kleber Mendes (Shannon), Claudia Smith (Thomas) and Kelmy Mendes; her stepdaughters Tammy Simpson (Frank) and Tracey Taylor (Ricky); her sisters Betty Adams, Linda Tomanio and Barbara Gould; her brothers Robert Morrissey (Barbara) and Mark Spiegle (Andrea); several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and her beloved fur babies.

In lieu of flowers and to honor her love for animals the family asks that if you are so moved, please make a donation to your local SPCA or animal shelter in Diane's memory.

The family will host a casual Remembrance Gathering in honor of Diane from 1pm-4pm on Sunday, June 2, 2024 at the Hatter Park Banquet Hall - 7 East Hayestown Rd, Danbury CT and would be honored to welcome those who wish to participate.
