Diane Neidhardt-Copeland Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 8, 2024.

Diane (née Luck) Neidhardt - Copeland, a cherished grandmother, mother, sister and friend, known for her kind, loving, healing and care-taking personality, left us on September 29, 2024. Diane lived a life filled with passion for her family, traveling, and service towards others.

Diane was born in Chicago, IL, on June 21, 1950. She grew up in Roselle, IL, and attended Lake Park High School. She always had a healing spirit and decided to earn a nursing degree at Illinois Masonic in Chicago, IL. She spent her life taking care of her family, friends and patients and was deeply dedicated to this service. Her compassion, empathy and strong moral courage made her a standout amongst her peers.

The French poet Moliere wrote, "Les commencements ont des charmes inexprimable," which means "Beginnings are of unspeakable charm". Diane loved to travel and experience new countries, cultures, food, wine and to meet new friends along the way. She was alive in those beginnings and her pioneering spirit shined. But let us not focus on an end that came much too quickly but rather celebrate and cherish the experiences and time we were able to share with her throughout her very full life.

Over the past years, Diane found a passion for all types of ballroom dancing and was also an accomplished and dedicated craftsperson. She loved going to dance halls, meeting new people, and was enthralled by the array of movements and emotional connections it brought out of her and others. In addition, Diane spent much of her time crafting, and her creative projects not only manifested her artistic nature but also the ability to capture memories through wonderfully thoughtful photo albums and cards. It is through her memory of events that we are all able to relive precious moments and vital milestones by the simple act of opening them up.

Diane is survived by her daughters, Shannon Andersen (husband Jeremy), Lisa Neidhardt (husband Brian Hungerford) and Amy Johnson (husband Zach); and grandchildren, Quinn, Arlo, Ray, Irving and Ward; and her sisters Dawn Bobrowsky (husband Bill and daughter Nicole Fluhart) and Dana Luck (daughter Bethany Poe).

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to Susan G. Komen Foundation in Diane's name, .

There will be a celebration of life gathering for her loved ones to attend, share memories and honor a person that lived a full life. The family will post the date and time once arrangements have been made.

I always loved seeing her, she always had a smile and loved her family. When she moved to Birmingham we actually attended a few Alabama games and tailgated. Her legacy is her & Don´s daughters and her grandchildren. She is missed by all who knew her.
