Janet Sue (Sours) Hurst-Loughrey, 82, of New Philadelphia, passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023 in Park Village Health Care Center at Dover, following a period of declining health.
Born in Midvale on May 8, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Virginia (Roach) Sours and the late Benton (Janice) Sours. Janet was a 1959 graduate of New Philadelphia High School and greatly enjoyed attending the ongoing social activities with her classmates.
Janet will long be remembered as an ultimate caregiver, serving anyone and everyone that she encountered. She did not judge others and was a stranger to no one. Most importantly, Janet adored her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She will be deeply missed by her children, Kimberly (Bret) Link of New Philadelphia, Troy Hurst of Louisville and Leslie (Doug) Karl of New Philadelphia; her grandchildren, Nikki Antonucci, Grace (Lee) Stanley, Dr. Tyler (Samantha) Hurst, Michael Karl and Alex Karl; seven great grandchildren, Emma, Aubrey, Grayson, Charlie, Hudson, Otto and Vera; and two sisters, Karen Schwartz and Cindi (Eric) Yoder.
Also special to her were her in-laws, Betty Hurst, Tom (Peggy) Hurst and Jack (Carole) Hurst, and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her first husband, Timothy Hurst; her second husband, Richard Loughrey; a grandson, Cole Hurst, her brother, Benton Sours II and her brother-in-law, David Hurst.
The family would like to thank the medical team and staff from Park Village Health Care Center for the thorough and loving care Janet received while in their care.
Friends are invited to call on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 beginning at 10 AM in the Linn-Hert-Geib Funeral Home at New Philadelphia where a memorial service, honoring her life, will begin at 11 AM with Pastor Jim Borton officiating. A reception will follow the service in the Geib Family Center. A private inurnment, beside her husband, will take place at a later date.
