Dianz Pierre Obituary

The 4-year-old boy injured in a traffic crash Sunday afternoon died of his injuries late Monday night, according to the boy's uncle Miguel Cruz.

Dianz Miguel Pierre had been on life support at St. Mary's Medical Center after the accident, Cruz said.

Dianz was wearing a seat belt in the back of a Mazda when the car got caught in a pileup involving at least 10 other vehicles on Interstate 95 north of 45th Street.

His mother and her boyfriend and his 7-year-old and 1-year-old children were bruised in the crash but are no longer hospitalized.

No charges have been filed, but the investigation is continuing, according to Florida Highway Patrol.

The wrecks began when Daniel Potter, 27, failed to stop his Ford sport utility vehicle in traffic that was stalled for another crash.

Potter's vehicle struck a Chevrolet sport utility vehicle, then smashed into a Lexus, then swerved into the Mazda carrying Dianz, pushing it into a tractor-trailer and another Ford sport utility vehicle.

"The child was seated and restrained, but they were hit by a huge SUV and off on the side was an SUV and a truck in front of them. So there was nowhere to go when the SUV hit them directly in the rear," Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Tim Frith said.

Dianz was wearing a seat belt, which is permitted for 4-year-olds under Florida law as long as the belt fits properly, Frith said.

Connie: I am sorry to hear about the death of son. I can truly say that I know how it is to lose someone so precious to you, because I lost my daughter six(6)years ago. With God help and time, it will get better. Just keep looking up and be strong. Knowing that you will see your angel one day will make the journey a little easier to travel. Be strong and May God continue to strengthen you and your family.

To Connie, Sheldon, Jaritza, Baby Elijah and Elliot:

My heart and prayers goes out to you all. Dianz was a wonderful and a loving little boy. His beautiful smile will always be remembered.

"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: A time to be born and a time to die..."

(Ecclesiastes 3:1& 2)

I know that you all are going through a difficult time right now, but Dianz is in a better place. He is resting comfortably in the arms of God. He is watching over you all. Be encouraged and be strong. You all will see him again one day.
