Dr. Diego Sans -MILLEDGEVILLE - Funeral Mass for Diego Cosme Sans Fonseca, M.D. will be held 11A.M. Saturday, July 29 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Father Juan Sosa and Father Michael McWhorter will officiate. Interment: West View Cemetery. -Dr. Sans Fonseca was born September 27, 1908, Manzanillo, Oriente, Cuba. He was a 1938 graduate of La Facultad de Medicina, Universidad de La Habana, Cuba with specialties in Pediatrics, Respiratory Medicine, Surgery, and Psychiatry. His medical career spanned 1938-1987. He was a physician in Havana, Cuba 1938-1944. He was Director, Dispensario Anti-tuberculoso, had a private practice, and was Anatomy Professor, Manzanillo, Cuba 1944-1966. He worked at Central State Hospital, Milledgeville from 1968-1987. -He lived in Miami 1966-68 and moved to Milledgeville 1968. -His professional memberships include American Medical Association, Medical Association of Georgia, Baldwin County Medical Association, American and Georgia Psychiatric Association. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Milledgeville, Georgia, Caballeros Cat—licos de Cuba, Knights of Columbus, U.S. and Life Member and Honorary Grand Knight of the local chapter, Asociaci—n de Manzanilleros en el Exilio. -Survived by wife, Lydia Quiros Sans (married 61 years); seven children and their spouses, Tony D. Sans, Ridgeland, Mississippi; Diego F. Sans, San Francisco, California; Lily Sans Grimes, Milledgeville, Georgia; Luis D. Sans, Marietta, Georgia; Carmen Sans Graciaa, Lupe Sans Guyton and Juan (Johnny) D. Sans, Atlanta, Georgia; fifteen grandchildren; sister, Catalina Sans Fonseca, Havana, Cuba; sister-in-law, Mrs. Nilda B. Sans, Florida; several nieces and nephews. -Preceded in death by his son, Carlos D. Sans, Esq., and eight brothers and sisters. -Flowers accepted, for those who wish Dr. Sans' favorite charities include Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Baldwin County Special Olympics, and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital. -A Rosary will be said in Spanish 6:30P.M. Dr Sans was the most vibrant kind man I have ever met. I was a guest at his home many times. His entire family was loving and loved to be in company of friends. Rest in peace old friend.

Dr Sans and I worked together at Central State Hospital for many years.He was so considerate of staff and patients.A large part of the very fond memories I have of him are those of him and Mrs Sans together.Mrs Sans,I know that your loss is so very great and I pray that God will be very close to you.
