It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Diolinda "Nana" Moginie. She passed away peacefully on the morning of May 18th while visiting Boise, Idaho for her grandson's graduation. She was surrounded by family and love. She was known by everyone as Linda, but to many, she was Nana.

She was born on October 24, 1941 in San Diego, CA to immigrant parents from Portugal. Her first language was Portuguese which she was very proud of along with her Portuguese heritage. After the passing of her father, she and her mother moved to Sacramento, CA to be close to family. When she was younger, she enjoyed participating in the Portuguese Festas and spending time with her extended family. At the age of 11, after the passing of her mother, she went to live with her sister and brother-in-law in Walnut Grove, CA. She felt blessed that her sister took her in and raised her as her own. After graduating from Courtland High School in 1959, she moved back to Sacramento where she rented a room from a family in Land Park. This is where she met the love of her life, Brian. They married in 1961 and had two children. They later divorced but remained close with much love for each other until Brian's passing in 1982. Linda entered the workforce at this time. She worked many years as a pharmacy technician at Land Park Pharmacy and later moved to Rite Aid pharmacy from which she retired.

The highlight of her life began in 2002 and again in 2004 when she became a grandmother to the two loves of her life. Her grandkids were her whole world. She lived for them and enjoyed being part of every aspect of their lives. She was their biggest cheerleader and did not miss a game, a performance, or any other milestones.

Linda is survived by her son, Clinton Moginie and her daughter, Michele Miesner, son-in-law, Todd Miesner, grandchildren, Aidan and Briella Miesner, Brother Al (Patty) Baeta, Nephews, Jack Mello, Alan Mello, Steven (Ann) Mello, Niece, Joanne (Jerry) Cordy, as well as many more great nieces, nephews, and cousins, Jon (Julie, Sarah, Molly) Baeta, Mike Baeta, Elizabeth (Amariah, Daniel, Eliana Alonge) Mello, Brad (Steffanie, JJ, Alice) Mello, Nancy (Scott, Helen, Noah Miller) Mello, Gary Mello, Amber Mello, Mathew (Mat Jr.) Mello, Ben Cordy, Max (Justine, Carter) Cordy, Jackie (Marcos) Gutierrez, Heather (Mike, Summer, Ryan) Dabbert, and Duncan Jensen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Belarmino and Angelina (Pinto) Bernardo, ex-husband, Brian Moginie, sister, Louise (Jack) Mello, brother John (Muriel, Del) Baeta, Nephew, Gary Mello, and Niece, Susan Mello.

Linda requested no formal funeral services and only to celebrate her life with family and friends. A celebration of life will be hosted at the home of Michele and Todd Miesner on Sunday, June 23rd at 11am. Details will be sent directly to guests. In lieu of flowers, please make a charitable donation to American Heart Association or The Stroke Foundation.

In 1961, when I was 12 years old, my family moved to the Bay Area in California. My mother was Brian´s half-sister and daughter of Brian´s dad, my grandfather. While my mother spent our first month house hunting, I was sent to stay with Brian and Linda. I was in awe of Linda´s beauty and felt embraced by her love. They had just had their first baby who was adorable. Linda gave 12 year old me helpful advice as an adolescent in life transitions. She was wonderful.
