RICHLANDS – Mrs. Dolly Childress Clousher, age 83, of 321 North St., passed away Tuesday, Aug. 30, 2005, at her home following a brief illness.
She was born in Tazewell County and was a daughter of the late Gus and Carrie Mallory French, both Tazewell County, Va., natives. She was a retired employee of the Timberline Lodge in Claypool Hill, Va. She was a lifelong resident of the Richlands area and was a member of Bethel Assembly Church in Richlands.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alex Childress; her second husband, David Preston Clousher; one sister, Dorothy Sharone; and one brother, Sidney French.
Survivors are three daughters, Gail Meadows of Emerald Isle, N.C., Carol McDaniel of Aberdeen, Md., and Peggy Smith of Savannah, Ga.; son, Tim Clousher of Richlands; two sisters, Lila Alitzer of Cedar Bluff and Margaret Sprecher of Hagerstown, Md.; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mrs. Dolly Childress Clousher will be conducted Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, with the Rev. Robert Buckles, the Rev. Rusty Ward and the Rev. Danny Altizer officiating. Interment will follow in the Greenhills Memory Gardens in Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be Toby Meadows, Tim Meadows, Alex Meadows, Tony Meadows, Jason Meadows, James Kennedy, Cedric McDaniel, Ron Smith and Alex Smith. Friends may call at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands Thursday from 6-9 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethel Assembly Church or the American Cancer Society.
