Dear Athena & Johnny, I have recently moved to Greenville and have just have learned of the passing of your mother and my friend Dolly. I have known Dolly for close to forty years and can truly say she was a dear friend and one that you could always count on when asked for her help or advice which she was always ready to give. I have observed her as a person who was always there to give a helping hand just for the asking and a great neighbor on Russell Dr. for many years. We have lost a beautiful person who will be missed by her many friends but knowing she has been received in our Saviors care is comforting. May God Bless you and shower you and your family with with all his Loving care.

I was saddened to hear of Dolly's passing. I worked with Dolly for a short time at the Recreation Department when she was a part time employee. She was already in her mid 70's. I had it in my head that she should take it easy and not work so hard given her age, maybe spend more time on hobbies or even rest! But Dolly would have none of that. She even took on chores that were assigned to others like mopping the entire top floor of Alhambra Hall before the public service worker came on duty. I soon learned that Dolly had a mind of her own. She did what she thought was right and gave it her all.

She touched many with her determination and resilience. I don't believe she ever half-did anything, be it love her family, work, volunteer, or take care of others. What an amazing example of a life well lived.
My deepest sympathies to her family that she loved so much.

God has gained a wonderful lady. She truly loved her later years on the farm with Athena and the animals. Her eyes would light up whenever a new goat kid or chick arrived and she was a child again. The Hyde family will miss her as if she was one of our parents because she always had senior wisdom for us. We will always love her.

Our family (Ashe Family) is deeply saddened by the passing of "Ms. Dolly". She was a force to be reckoned with and spoke her mind! But her kindness and generosity were endless, especially with the children. My girls remember her so well from the sock hops, as well as riding horses at the Huger Farm, and learning all about her hobbies at her Russell Drive home. Athena, thank you for taking such great care of your mom....your best friend. She always knew your heart and will watch over you always. God bless you, Athena and Johnny.

I fondly remember "Miss Dolly," who taught me Sunday school at St. Andrews when I was kindergarten-aged! Some of my very first memories include being in Miss Dolly's Sunday school room around Easter time, when the azaleas were blooming all around the church. . .and singing "Onward Christian Soldiers". What a blessing she was! Sending much love to the family + friends of Miss Dolly. May God bless you all!

I have fond memories of Dolly that go back to my childhood when the Recreation Department was run out of a small cider block building at James B. Edwards Park. During all of her service to the children and families of Mount Pleasant, she demonstrated her love for them and her community in innumerable ways. In more recent years, Dolly, in her service to Mount Pleasant's seniors, was exceptionally kind to my parents, particularly to my Dad, who also died with Alzheimer's. Mount Pleasant is a better place because she lived...I loved her. Dolly's final years are just another sad example of why we need to find the cure for such a horrific disease.

Dolly taught me in Sunday School. St. Andrews. Protected kids while she was a Crossing Guard. She loved all kids and we knew she loved us. Dolly was a special person that added to the history of Mt. Pleasant.
