Dolores Boeckl Obituary
She was survived by her children Patrick Prendergast III (wife Karen), Debra Prendergast Swan, Frank Boeckl (fiancee Laura Railey), Paul Boeckl (wife Sandy), Denise Boeckl Hubbard (husband Charles) and Melissa Boeckl Schehr (husband Kevin), her grandchildren Lawrence Warren, Emily Warren, Melanie Boeckl, Sophia Boeckl, Hailey Boeckl, Johnny Schehr , Alicia Schehr and her great grandchild Lola Warren. She was also preceded in death by her two children Douglas Prendergast and Trudy Prendergast Warren. Her surviving siblings are Madeline Vega Prendergast and Harold Vega. She was preceded by her sister Betty Vega Perry. She was the daughter of the late Ivory Mitchell Klotz and Martin Louis Vega. She was preceded in death by her husband Hubert Boeckl and her former husband Patrick Prendergast, II. She is survived by many loved nieces and nephews and many many beloved friends.
For many years she served as secretary to Bishop Nicholas D'Antonio (Bishop Nick) of Annunciation Parish in New Orleans and was the first female Cub Scout Master in the United States. She touched the lives of many people through her work and always sought out the lesser fortunate. She will be greatly missed by her family, friends and staff at St. Joseph's Nursing Home.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend visitation at Schoens' Funeral Home, 3627 Canal St., New Orleans, LA. on Tuesday, August 9,2011. Visitation will begin at at 9:30 am until 12:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00pm at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 105 Bonnabel in Metairie. Burial will follow at St. Patrick's Cemetary III on Canal Blvd in New Orleans.
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation, in her name, to the charity of your choice.

My Mom (Louise Pritchard) was a resident of St Joseph until her passing in February/2009 and Miss Dolores always assisted my Mom in getting around and always found time to spend with her.
Our family will always be indebted to Miss Dolores for her friendship with our Mom. If my Mom still has her wheelchair I am sure Miss Dolores is pushing her somewhere.
May they both have eternal peace and happiness in heaven.

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.
Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."
It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man.
God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.
When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.
I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.
There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.
If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.
So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.
And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Debbie, I am so sorry for you and your family on the loss of your mother. I know that the last several years you have made your mom your top priority. Please take comfort in knowing that you did everything possible to make her last few years on this earth as comfortable as possible. I will always remember going to school at Annunciation and having your mom around helping out and always wishing that my mom could help out at school too. She was always so nice and easy to be around when I went over to your house. She is forever in your heart...

I never witnessed it, but I guarantee that at some point she gave her last dollar to someone she thought needed it more, and she did not have a lot. I'd bet my last dollar, it happened more than once.

Thank you Momma 'D' for being there for me since I was a little girl. You rescued me quite a few times, opened your home to me, and "adopted" me. BEST of all, the EIGHT BROTHERS AND SISTERS that love me for me. I hold close to my heart, all the memories of the fun I had with you & the family.
