Dolores C. (Bianchi) Gallio, of Worcester, died Tuesday, April 12, 2022 at the Rose Monahan Hospice Home in Worcester. She would have marked her 100th birthday on Thursday, April 14.
Dolores was born in the Bronx in New York, daughter of Vincent and Mary (Silvestro) Bianchi. She lived in Worcester for more than 80 years.
Dolores leaves a daughter Mary T. Provo of Leominster, two sons, John V. Gallio and Anthony C. Metz, both of Worcester; a granddaughter Christine Dimond-Parsons and her husband Tom Parsons of Leominster; a great-granddaughter Alexandria Dimond of Leominster; two cousins from New York Helen Lynch and Beatrice Meir and their families.
Dolores' grandson Richard A. Dimond died in 1987. She was also predeceased by a sister Natalie M. Lapasota and a brother Peter C. Nasuti.
Dolores was a purchasing agent at the U.S. Army Natick Soldier Research Development and Engineering Center, better known as the Natick Labs. For 30 years, she worked at the Labs on the purchase of equipment and food supplies to support American soldiers worldwide. After retiring from the Labs, she worked in the offices of the Wyman-Gordon Co. for several years.
Dolores loved spending time with her family. She enjoyed music, reading and visits to museums, historical places and Cape Cod. She was a former member of the Worcester Art Museum.
Dolores' family thanks the Rose Monahan staff for their skilled and compassionate care.
Funerals services are private. There are no calling hours. A celebration of Dolores' life will be held this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Dolores may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
The Athy Memorial Home, 111 Lancaster St., Worcester, is directing arrangements.
