Dolores R. Myers

Dolores R. Weicker Myers, 96, a lifelong resident of Tuscarora, was lifted up to the Lord on Sunday at St. Luke's Miner's Nursing Center.

She was a daughter of the late Nicholas and Elsie Blew Weicker. She was the wife of the late Franklin E. Myers.

A graduate of Blythe Township High School, she worked many years in the garment industry and was forelady for Tuscarora Sportswear. She also did sewing for her friends and family. She enjoyed traveling and spending time with her family.

Dolores was a very active life member of Advent Lutheran Church, Tuscarora, where she sang in the choir and led many church activities.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother, Edmund Weicker, and a son, David Myers.

She is survived by a daughter, Joan, wife of Anthony Ficarino, Tamaqua; sons, George Myers and his wife, Shirley, Lancaster, and Robert and his wife, Nancy, Mansfield; a sister-in-law, Betty Myer, Douglassville; nine grandchildren, Donald Barron and his wife, Michele, Landis Barron and his wife, Debra, Janet Dickey and her husband, William, Christy Ewing and her husband, Erik, Memie Whiteside and her husband, Erick, Gail Berard and her husband, Jason, Wendy Alvarez and her husband, Frank, and Jessica McCarthy and her husband, Sean; a step granddaughter, Joanne McDonald and her husband, Bill; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Elva Weicker; a niece, Gail Sachs and family, Schuylkill Haven; additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at La-mar Christ Funeral Home, Hometown, with the Rev. Ken Melber officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Odd Fellows Cemetery, Tamaqua. Donations in her name may be made to Advent Lutheran Church, Tamaqua, or Tamaqua Adult Day Care.
