Dolores June Seaton

Dolores June Seaton April 14, 1927 - January 7, 2017 Dolores June Seaton (nee Hagerman) born April 14, 1927 passed away January 7th, 2017 in Kamloops B.C. Predeceased by husband Robert (2015), sister Iris (1989), parents Isabel (1951) and Roy (1963), Del is survived by sister Ardyth (Roy), daughters Catharine (Brent), Pamela (Ian), and Alexandra (Paddy); grandchildren, Robert (Kathryn), Alexander, Adam and Paula along with many nieces and nephews.

A life-long resident of Edmonton Alberta, Del particularly loved her home of 57 years where, along with Bob, she raised their three girls establishing among all the many friends and family who were happy to 'sup at her board' the unparalleled excellence of her butter tarts, apple pie, scones, chocolate cake, molasses cookies and whatever else she concocted in that little white kitchen which had not seen a single change since its 1959 build.

Long before the days of the Martha's and the Jamie's who tout fresh ingredients and slow process, Del pioneered the way, thriftily grinding left over grade A Alberta prime rib into delicious shepherd's pie, mixing her own salad dressing and baking cookies daily to share with after-school friends. The consummate hostess, her home was the site of countless dinner parties.

Her activities were not merely confined to the kitchen, though. A voracious reader, Del was an invaluable member of many book clubs, a participant who not only actually read the prescribed books, but organized her thoughts concerning them in an encyclopedic collection of spiral notebooks! Other sets of journals reveal an eclectic curiosity which ranged from bird sightings in Elk Island Park to the flowers of Southern Alberta to the exploits of Arctic explorers. Del loved to learn, maintaining an active mind well into her 90th year.

Del and Bob enjoyed a long, healthy, active union of over 65 years shared with a network of close companions who joined them in much-loved hikes over the trails of England, Arizona, and their favourite haunts in the Rockies, returned to each summer.

Her laughter, wit and love of life will be much missed, remembered gratefully by dear friends in Edmonton, Calgary and Toronto, but mostly by her three beloved girls.
