Sending a belated expression of sympathy to Mae's family - because I know long after the cards stop, life continues with the void of losing someone so dear and essential to the heartbeat of your family. I came to know Mae (and Pat briefly before he passed) as a Penn employee with the team that planned the annual Undergraduate Scholarship Celebrations. She was such a bright light and they were a a staple at those events, relishing the chance to connect with the grateful students who were recipients of their generosity. I remember running into her on Locust Walk with her daughter and her commending me on my short natural haircut (well before it was as acceptable as a cultural expression in some professional settings)! I just moved to a new position at CHOP and remembered her connection to the hospital, so I Googled her name to see if I could find her, only to learn the sad news of her passing. May the Lord continue to bless and comfort you, and I thank Him, as I'm sure you all do, for the gift she was to the world.

So sorry to hear of Mae's passing. Whenever I saw her name on the tee sheet at Greate Bay Country Club it brightened my day because I knew that I would be greeted with a warm hug and bright smile. Mae had such a vibrant personality you couldn't help but love her. She will truly be missed. RIP Mae.

To the Family of Dr. Mae,
I am saddened to learn of her passing. She and I were colleagues some years ago at Simon Gratz High School. She will always be remembered as a vibrant and caring high school counselor who put students first.
In later years, I would see Dr. Mae on occasion at various places on Montgomery Avenue, as she continued to exude enthusiasm in her retirement activities. A wonderful woman who took pride in family and others.
May God bless you.

Dear Ann,
You have my deepest sympathy. How well I remember your mother insisting that I come to Christmas Eve dinner 25 years ago when my own mother died. I learned that one did not say no to Dr. Mae. May she rest in peace and rise in glory.

I have been a nurse for 23 years, and this wonderful woman was probably my favorite patient ever. From the first night that I cared for her, when I walked in the room at 1 AM and her and her granddaughter were doing yoga exercises. I said to her, "I am 62 yo and can just about get OOB in the morning, and you have your knee touching your forehead." We all laughed, as often happened when you were in her company. I would have loved to have come to her service on Friday morning, but am working Thursday and Friday nights, and need to sleep. To her family, Mae was a very special lady, as you all know. I used to say to her that you can tell how well someone lived their life, by the support and caring for them that the family gives to someone later in life. Well you guys (family) adored her, and had someone caring for her all the time. Mae, I am glad your pain is over. Rest easy young lady until we meet again.

Mae Agnes' twinkling blue eyes did indeed light up a room, and she made every person who caught her graze feel that special sparkle. That was her gift. To quote, Dr. Pat, "yes, there was a lion behind the throne.." her name was Mae.

I was a CHOP employee for almost 19 years and saw Mae and Dr. Pat at many CHOP events. They were wonderful people and a lovely couple. Mae was a great volunteer but more important, a great person. Her warmth and smile could light up a room. Such a sweet woman. I always enjoyed talking to her. My condolences to her family.
