Dom was a terrific friend and a faithful Academy classmate. We spent many hours together at the Academy working on flag routines in Dahlgren Hall and enjoying time off away from the "Yard." His parents graciously invited me into their home a number of times. His entire family treated me as family, and for that I will be forever grateful. I will miss Dom's infectious joy and enthusiasm. He was a true friend.

I loved Dom. He was my Manager at BAE System from 1999-2001. Dom was a class act and extremely great guy to work with. He would always bake these great cakes for our Christmas parties. Dom will be missed.

Dom, having lived with you and your family in the Navy Circle at Camp David, graduating with you at Catoctin High Class of 73. As we seperated paths you going into the Navy, Me the Air Force I seem to have lost touch with you for all these years. For that I am very sorry, and now hearing of your parting it will be hard to understand. You were one of the great ones, peace be with you forever.

So saddened to hear of Dom's passing. Having been his roommate at the Naval Academy and finding out that my girl and now wife was a classmates of Dom, we always wondered how he was doing. Fair winds and following seas to you Dom and may God comfort your family and friends.

Task Force 100 was sorry to recently learn of the departure of our friend Dom Baysic.
Dom was the founder of same scale RC ship modeling in the US and taught me a lot of ship modeling techniques. He was also a great cook and baker. Rest well my friend. Sincerely Dennis Smith, Jim Wheeler, Kurt Faust & Francine Serratore.

I'm very saddened to learn of Dom's passing...he was one of the nicest guys with chivalry in our class of '73-I remember teasing him in band class; Catoctin High School. Sincere condolences to the family at this difficult time. -cindy

So sorry to finally hear about Dom. He was in my high school class and chorus. We are planning a HS reunion and he really wanted to come to our last one and I was hoping he could make this one. He was a wonderful person! Vickie Sayler Novak, Catoctin High School, Thurmont, MD

Sadly, I just found out about Dom's passing. I served with Dom on the USS RK Turner in the seventies. We had a band aboard, "Hurricane", where I was the drummer. We played all over the Caribbean and Mediterranean. Dom was an Ensign at the time and volunteered to be our "Band Officer", as well as playing horn with us. To his family – Ensign Dom Baysic impressed this young sailor then and set leadership examples for me I still follow today. This world is a lesser place without him.
Respectfully,

Michael Reed

Dom and I went to the RK Turner together out of Annapolis as grads from '77. He was a great shipmate and buddy and a very giving and caring guy. He put together our 79 cruise book single-handedly and was great with a camera. I'm so sorry for your loss.

Dom, I was shocked and saddened to read in Shipmate's “Last Call” of your passing. I remember us singing together in the Catholic Choir back at the “Boat School” and enjoying your family's hospitality whenever I would visit them. In fact, you'll remember it was at one of these visits that I was introduced to a fellow midshipman who would later introduce me to his sister. I would then go on to marry Rowena – 35 years this May. Fair winds and following seas, my friend, and my sincerest condolences to the Baysic family. Rey '77

Fil, Dennis, Jake, Josh, Joey, Fay and the rest of the family:
Although I had never met Dom I felt like I knew him. Fil and Dennis would tell me about his cakes. I cannot say enough how happy I am to have met Dennis and Fil. They have meant to much to me both as Navy friends and as personal friends. The Baysic family is an amazing Navy family. Fair winds and following seas to Dom and my condolences to the entire family. But looking at pictures and reading the notes in this book it looks to me like he left quite a legacy of love and enjoyment of life. Those memories are precious and are what gets everyone through these hard times.
John and I are thinking of you and thank you for enriching my life.

While the loss of a loved one is never easy, it is most certainly the hardest when they are taken from us too soon.

We offer our sincere condolence and deepest sympathy on your loss. May the outpouring of sympathy, the kind acts of friends and strangers and the comfort in knowing that your loss is felt by many, help you through this difficult time.

I pray for God's blessings on you and your wonderful family. May you find the courage and strength to move forward in peace and in knowing he lived a wonderful and full life.

Dom was a man of many talents. To me Dom was one of the most important guys in my life when I was growing up. I started singing with the pine barons when I was 11 years old. It was an amazing experience. Dom was the guy who Showed me how to sell a song to an audience and move to the music while on the stage. Everytime I sing I will always remember what Dom taught me. Dom I am going to miss you so much but I know you will be at the gates of heaven singing and making cakes for everyone who comes in. Dom I love you. I am and forever shall be you friend! Thanks for the memories!

Dom was a mentor to me, an inspiration, and a great friend. I echo the feelings of all the loving tributes already posted. Dom had so many magnificent devotions, like a jewel with countless facets, all polished to perfection. Everything he did was a labor of love - but not love of the product, rather love for those who would benefit from the product. His efforts to personalize mundane work tasks made every day brighter. We shared an Army-Navy rivalry that he delighted in ribbing me about, and that always made me laugh. It seemed like Dom had a personal relationship with everyone. He was ferocious in defense of his people and his values. I will honor his memory forever. Goodbye Dom.

There are plenty of acquaintances in the world; but very few real friends. Dom was one of my very few real friends and I will miss him greatly. He helped me get through some very hard times which I'll never forget. I'll also remember the many times he laughed so hard that he'd start coughing uncontrollably, then laugh, then cough, then laugh some more.
His creativity and talents were limitless but his devotion and love for his family was inspiring. My heart and prayers go out to his mother and father, his brother Tino and his sister Fay, and all their families. We love you and we'll miss you Dom.

Dom was such a gifted artist in many mediums including culinary, music, modeling, and more. Themed Christmas trees with each ornament made by him, completely by hand. Amazing baker and cake decorator. Fabulous chef. His artistic talent with stage sets was something to behold. His fleet of models of Navy ships, which he made by hand, was incredible. The world lost a true artist, way too soon. I can't believe he is gone, but I am humbled and honored to have known him.

His passing was so unexpected ! We all are in shock. He was an Annapolis Grad and he prayed this prayer in Chapel. I think it sums up his life! Dom, may you be welcomed into as a faithful servant. You will be greatly missed.

THE PRAYER OF A MIDSHIPMAN
Almighty Father, whose way is in the sea and whose paths are in the great waters, whose command is over all, and whose love never fails: Let me be aware of your presence and obedient to your will. Keep me true to my best self, guarding me against dishonesty in purpose and in deed, and helping me to to live that I can stand unashamed and unafraid before my shipmates, my loved ones, and you. Protect those in whose love I live. Give me the will to do the work of a man and to accept my share of responsibilities with a strong heart and a cheerful mind. Make me considerate of those intrusted to my leadership and faithful to the duties my country has intrusted tome. Let my uniform remind me daily of the traditions of the Service of which I am a part. If I am inclined to doubt, steady my faith; if I am tempted, make me strong to resist; if I should miss the mark, give me courage to try again. Guide me with the light of truth and keep before me the life of Him by whose example and help I trust to obtain the answer to my prayer, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
