Domonic Liana Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 23, 2023.
Domonic Anthony Liana, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Sunday, August 20th at the age of 26 due to complications from a lifelong illness. Domonic was born and primarily raised in Sea Bright, NJ prior to living in several other Monmouth County shore towns with his latest residence in Middletown, NJ.

He graduated from Shore Regional High School as a talented, 3 sport athlete - football, wrestling, and ice hockey. Dom was an integral member on the defensive line of Shore Regional's 2014 Central Jersey Group I State Champion football team.

As a talented chef, Dom worked in many restaurants over the years with his highest position held under Chef Robert Burke at Drifthouse Restaurant by David Burke as Sous Chef. He exited the restaurant industry for a career in iron working after completing his certification in welding. Whether Dom was working in the kitchen or on a job site, it was easy to tell how talented of an individual he was with an unrivaled work ethic.

Dom enjoyed hobbies such as snowboarding and cooking, but his deepest affinity was for fishing and being out on the water - the reason he never strayed too far from the coastline during his moves throughout Monmouth County. The sea, who also does not like to be restrained, was a perfect analogy for Dom.

Dom was one of a kind who handled adversity from a young age with incredible poise and grace. You wouldn't know about it as he was a man of few words, but those closest to him admired his ability to face challenges with the foresight of always building a better tomorrow for himself. For others fortunate enough to know Dom, knew him as a kind heart with an infectious laugh. As one who truly lived life under the mantra "It's a good day, to have a good day".

He is survived, forever loved, and missed by: his girlfriend, Sara Dayke and her family; great grandmother, Leona Lundrigan; grandmother, Robin Lucisano; mother, Autumn Lucisano and sister, Elisabeth Liana; uncle and aunt, Anthony and Nicole Lucisano; aunt and uncle, Amanda and Travis Zeller; uncle, Austin Lucisano; aunts, Theresa and Jennifer Liana; and many other relatives and loving friends. A private memorial will be held in his honor on Sunday, August 27th.

I am so sorry to hear about Dom and my deepest condolences to the entire family. I had the honor of coaching Dom in wrestling and he truly was the model teammate and student athlete. He was selfless, hardworking, and always reliable and I really enjoyed having him and Austin on the team together. I hope you find peace knowing that while he was taken much much too soon, he left a lasting impact on all those he was around and will be sincerely missed.

My sincere condolences to all the family and friends

Dominic was a good kid

I was on a job site a few months ago and I heard somebody calling me
I looked around and I didn´t see anyone and then I heard bobby bobby again it was weird because the only people who call me bobby or my closest friends and family I was on the job site so I couldn´t understand it I thought I was hearing things

I looked over to my right at first. I didn´t recognize him it took me a second because I hadn´t seen him in such a long time.

He said, are you bobby I said yes why he said it´s me. Dominic stared at him for a second and then it clicked.

I said WHATS UP NEPHEW

I gave him a big hug and told him how shocked I was to see him.

That was a great moment. I was happy to see him doing well we exchange numbers and then we moved on but not before I put my arm around them and took a picture we bumped into each other a few times after that day.

I was so proud of him

Dom was and always will be someone I hold so many fond memories of. Always so sweet, kind, thoughtful and funny in every moment I´ve personally shared with him. My sister and I were close with Dom and his sister Lizzie for quite some time and I always think back to those days and remember how wonderful it was sharing memories with them both. His obituary describes his attitude so perfectly in that he handled challenges with so much grace and positive attitude being such an incredible example for so many. Sending all of my love to his family, girlfriend and friends at this time and always. I have no doubts that Dom is forever by your side every step of the way through today and every day... following every new chapter in your lives
