Services for Donald Lee Crowder, 77, of Flint, will be held on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at 11:00 at West Erwin Church of Christ with Jason Reeves and Donnie Carnathan officiating.

A graveside service will be held on Thursday, November 7, 2013 at10:00 AM at Elmwood Memorial Park Cemetery in Abilene with Nick Pruitt officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Stewart Family Funeral Home.

Mr. Crowder passed away November 2, 2013 under the care of Hospice of East Texas. He was born November 4, 1935 in Abilene to Donnie Doyle and Birdie Lee Norris Crowder.

Don graduated from of Abilene High School in 1953 and from Abilene Christian University in 1957. Following graduation, Don went to work for Humble Oil. He married Mary Jo Medley and they moved to Odessa in 1957. Don worked in Sales with Exxon in Midland and Tyler and overseas. Retiring after 35 years, Don and Mary Jo moved to Tyler in 1993. He was a member of West Irwin Church of Christ and was a leader of his Sunday school class for 20 years. Don volunteered with Mother Frances Hospital for 5 years. He enjoyed the outdoors and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 56 years, Mary Jo Crowder of Flint; sons, Barry Crowder and wife Susan of Spring, Don Crowder, Jr. and wife Heather of Abilene; daughters, Anne Gibson and husband Steve of Midland and Susan Tomlinson and husband Jody of Abilene; sister, Jerry Lively and husband Donald of Harrison, Arkansas. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation is scheduled from 5:30 - 7:00 PM on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Stewart Family Funeral Home, 7525 Old Jacksonville Highway, in Tyler.

If desired, memorials may be made to Hospice of East Texas Foundation, 4111 University Blvd. Tyler, 75701 or Trinity Mother Frances Hospital Volunteers, 800 Dawson, Tyler, 75701 or a charity of your choice.
