We will always treasure fond memories of Don and his family who were our neighbours in Sydney back in the late 1980s. Don inspired our son to become a doctor.

Thank you for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the gift of continued life through your talented work with my heart transplant.
I had no idea that you were suffering from your own health issues at the time.
Thank you also for your kind words and support for my wife during and after my operation.

It is with great sadness, I heard the news yesterday of Don's passing. I had the great pleasure of working with Don in theatre at The Alfred Hospital for in excess of 10 years. Although I didn't work in the Cardiac Theatres with him, as an ACN there I had a lot of dealings with him Out of Hours. As a result of the bantering that went on between us, a great repore was established. Don discovered that I too was a "petrol head" so he invited myself and my close friend Noleen Fox (deceased), to the first Melbourne F1 Grand Prix as his guest in his reserved stand.
Don was such an incredible surgeon that 10 years ago I entrusted him to perform CABGS on my own father and all these years' later my dad is still with me. I will always be for grateful for knowing this truly talented surgeon and for whom I have the utmost respect for him as a surgeon and a gentleman. May you rest in peace now Don....Your talent will be truly missed, but your vision will live on

Don, I will miss our dinners at the Dava. We always had fabulous conversations while the 2 James's let off steam! We will remember you every time we see the energy and intelligence shining out of your little guy, and I am sure you know that he could not be left in better hands than those of the gorgeous Jenny. You will be missed!

How do you ever pay tribute to a man who saved your life. Don you believed in me and fought for me, you gave to me something money could never buy, the gift of life and therefore thank you does not do my gratitude justice.
You not only gave back a daughter to her father, sister to her siblings, wife to her husband but most of all a mother to her baby girl. What a privilege it has been to be part of her life and see her mature into the most wonderful young woman. Thank you for holding my new heart in your hands, i have your imprint there forever, and there the love for you will remain and never forgotten. God bless you my friend, I love you, Cathy xx

Prof. Don Esmore operated my heart 3 years ago. At that time, I was touched by his humanity, warmth and humour and definitely part of the successful healing for me other than his outstanding skills as a surgeon. My wife and I adored him whenever we met him before, during and after surgery.

Daddy you are my hero and I dreamt last night you were here playing footy with me in the back garden but when I woke up you were really gone. Mummy said how wonderful that you can still visit me in my dreams to show me you'll always be with me. We've chosen a star in the night sky for you and I know you'll be right by my side as my very special guardian angel. We'll miss our dinners and golden cups won't be the same without you. I love you. We miss you. Love James, Jennifer and Jed xxx
