Marion,
I just learned about Bob, and wanted to extend my deepest feelings. I'll never forget how
you welcomed me into the family when I married
Joan, and the friendship you and Bob offered
Steven and I upon her death. He was a true
gentleman and we were blessed to have known
him. God bless the Walsh family.

I am saddened by the death of Bob Walsh. I started at NBC Channel 5 at the merchandise mart during the summer of 1969 as a program Traffic Coordinator where I coordinated with the sales department where bob worked in preparing the program schedules. It was then when I first met Bob and he was a fine gentleman.
I saw him rise to be the top executive of the NBC network and I admired how he done so with humility and supportive of his superiors. Bob was a low keyed humble man with a big vision.
He is the big catalyst for the 85 million dollar building in Chicago at 454 N. Columbus Drive called NBC Tower. I remember him sharing with me his incredible vision for NBC Tower and thought it was a magnificent vision. Of course at that point in time General Electric bought NBC and as in many cases when a company is sold they can go in a different direction.
I remember very shortly after Bob retired he came to NBC Tower on business and had forgotten his ID. A new security personnel was on duty who did not know Bob and would not allow Bob to pass. Bob was in a hurry and things had gotten difficult. I arrived at that point and saw what was happening and how Bob being in a hurry had become frustrated. He said to me, Elijah, I built this building, I can't believe this. I immediately let security know who Bob was and they apologetically let him in.
I am now an entrepreneur and the owner of three radio stations. Bob was a big help to me and a big role model. There are 2 men in my life that I admire as the best top executives ever that could be in any hall of fame and they are vice president and General manager Bob Lemon who hired me at channel 5 in 1969 and Bob Walsh my role model whom I often share with young people how he marvelously rose to the top of NBC.
How we need executives like Bob Lemon and Bob Walsh today. I have and will miss Bob greatly.
To the family my prayer is with you.

I worked with Bob Walsh in spot sales and local sales for WMAQ-TV, and beyond that in his rise to a very successful career. He was a friend - a kind, caring thoughtful gentleman whom I will always remember with the utmost respect. My sincere condolences to Marion and his family.

I feel very fortunate to have known & worked with Bob Walsh during the 20 years I spent with the NBC Owned Stations Group. Understated, humble, self-effacing and always with his wonderful sense of humor that was both enduring and disarming. Bob was a special human being who made this world a better place. May God bless him, his wife Marion and his entire family. We love you Bob.

Bob Walsh was a product of the Golden Age of Television. He was a unique, talented and very engaging executive who excelled at the highest levels of NBC. He had a PHD in people skills. Everyone simply wanted to work for him. Being a member of his team, inspired the best in you. I was fortunate to work for him in New York and Chicago. When you were around him, you couldn't help but admire his sense of humor and his very humble approach to people. He leaves behind fond memories of year's gone by, but not forgotten. My condolences to Marion and to his family. May his memory be eternal.
