Dona Underwood Obituary
February 1st 1930 - March 19th 2023
Dona Noreen Underwood, 93, died on Sunday, March 19th 2023 peacefully from natural causes under hospice care at home in Lindenhurst. She was born in Chicago, Illinois on February 1st 1930 to Hugh Carl Murray and Ann Marie Murray (Nee: Nelson).
Dona was a mother of 3, grandmother of 5 and great grandmother of 6. She was an artistic creative crafter, seamstress & upholsterer. She got her beautician's license in her 30's. In her 40's, she began scuba diving & became an avid golfer. Dona was a dog lover and breeder for 5 decades. She was known for her love of family and cooking. She lived in Chicago, Roselle, Arlington Heights, Mt. Prospect and Lindenhurst.
Survivors include her children: Catherine (Jeffrey) Semler of Lake Forest, Illinois; Laurie (David) Anglin of Missouri and Kent Hammock of Lindenhurst, Illinois.
She is further survived by 5 grandchildren: Jeffrey Semler II (Tonia), Liz (Paul) Larkin, Lindsay Semler, Joshua Kring, Timothy Kring and 6 great grandchildren: Connor Larkin, Elise Larkin, Derek Larkin, Isabella Semler, Anthony Semler and Darren Kring.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Beverly Donovan.
Visitation will be on Saturday, April 22nd 2023 at 10:00 am followed at 11am by a Celebration of Life at First Presbyterian Church Lake Forest, 700 North Sheridan Road, Lake Forest IL.

I think of you every day my dear sweet Dona. Miss your smile, laughter, and caring personality. After more than 47 years of friendship, it is hard to accept the fact I can't share a hug with you Please know that I will be praying for you and your family as I do frequently. My heart goes out to you and your loved ones. I miss your physical presence but hold you close to my heart always. May God be with you on your journey.
