Greenwood
Donald "Don" Edward Aldridge, 56, of Greenwood, died Monday, May 26, 2014 at University Medical Center in Jackson of cancer. Services will be 3 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2014 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at Wilson & Knight Funeral Home. Burial will be at Itta Bena Cemetery. Rev. Steve Burton and Rev. Higdon Herrington will officiate.
Don was born April 16, 1958 in Greenwood to Billy and Frances Aldridge. He was a member of First Baptist Church Itta Bena. He was a 1976 graduate of Pillow Academy. He worked as a truck driver for Gresham-McPherson Oil Company. Prior to working there he worked for Scott Petroleum. His hobbies included gardening, wood-working and the outdoors. He was a devoted and loving husband, son, brother and step-father and was always thinking of others. He was preceded in death by his father Billy Aldridge.
He is survived by his wife, Louanne Randle Aldridge of Greenwood; step-daughter, Katie Thompson of Memphis, TN; mother, Frances Burton Aldridge of Greenwood; sister, Janice Aldridge Cummings and husband Andy of Grenada; brother, Wayne Aldridge and wife Michelle of Greenwood. He is also survived by two nieces, Cassie Cummings of Grenada; Karle Aldridge of Greenwood and two nephews, Caleb Cummings of Grenada and Rodger Derrick Simpson, Jr. of Greenwood.
