Donald Woodrow "Speedy" Aynesworth was born on April 10, 1916, in Sayre, Oklahoma and passed away on February 8, 2009, at the age of 92 years. The son of Richard Eugene and Annie Wilma Aynesworth, he moved to Texas in 1934, and became forevermore a Texan. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corp, the U. S. Army during World War II, and retired as sales manager for the Borden Milk Company after 38 years of service. He later returned to work as the first bailiff of County Court at Law No. 1 of Gregg County. Speedy's later years were spent tending cattle and enjoying life with his beloved wife, Jonilea.

He is survived by Jonilea, his sister and brother-in-law, Jean and Bob Robinson of Marshall; his sons and daughters-in-law, Dan and Michele Aynesworth and Jerry and Vera Aynesworth of Austin, and Ted Rankin, Jr. of Carrollton; his daughters and sons-in-law, Jean Ann and Mark Johnston of Austin, Mari and Ed Woomer of Houston, and Jennifer and Roger Meagher of Coppell; nine grandchildren: Chris Aynesworth of Edmund, Oklahoma; Clayton Aynesworth, Joanna Aynesworth and Clark Johnston, of Austin, Margaret Johnston of Los Angeles, California, Stephanie Woomer of College Station, Kimberly Woomer of Houston and Kyle and Megan Goodwyn of Coppell; two great-grandsons, Gordon and Max Aynesworth of Edmund, Oklahoma, and a number of nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Meals on Wheels, the National Parkinson Foundation or Heart's Way Hospice of North East Texas.

A private graveside service is planned in Louisiana. Our heartfelt thanks to Heart'sWay Hospice for their kindness and care.

Dear Family,
"Speedy" what can I say, he was a character. I was also the first clerk for the County Court at Law #1 with him. We had some good times. I do remember one time he had his boots on top of the trash can in the court room and he fell asleep and made an awful racket when they slipped and fell. He woke us all up including the judge!!!! I know we will all miss him but we will all have the good memories to keep in our hearts. May God be with you in the days to follow.

Jean Ann and Dan,

Your dad was a valued friend to my parents, Howard and Lee Delle Sims. I know you will miss him as Georgia and I miss our parents.
