Donald Carucci Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 7, 2025.
Donald S. Carucci, 78, passed away on July 3, 2025, in New York, New York. Born on July 11, 1946, in Brooklyn, New York, Donald lived a life marked by innovation, service, and deep personal connections.

A graduate of Ralph R. McKee Career and Technical Education High School in Staten Island, Donald entered the United States Air Force shortly after graduation. During his service, he studied radio electronics and spent two years stationed in Misawa, Japan. His time in the military laid the foundation for a lifelong passion for sound engineering and technology.

Following his honorable service, Donald embarked on a pioneering career in nightclub sound design. He quickly earned a reputation as an expert in the field. As lead engineer for Rosner Custom Sound, he designed and installed cutting-edge sound systems for clubs and bars across the country. Among his most notable projects was his work with the Geftman brothers in Philadelphia; where Donald's innovative sound design kept many dancing at The Music Box, Second Story, and Catacombs nightclubs.

Donald's entrepreneurial spirit led him to establish his own company, Audiocrafters Limited. His expertise and creativity continued to shape the industry as he brought immersive audio experiences to many famed venues on the East Coast.

Later in life, Donald joined his father Anthony at Empire Stamp & Seal Co., where he eventually assumed ownership and leadership of the business. With characteristic ingenuity and vision, he transformed the company into Stampworx2000. Under his guidance, it became a trusted name in custom rubber stamps, seals, signage, and engraving services. His client list reflected both prestige and diversity-ranging from Martha Stewart magazines to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, the United Federation of Teachers to La Mama Experimental Theater Club.

Donald's professional accomplishments were matched by his vibrant personality and generous spirit. Known affectionately as "The Mayor of 29th Street," he was a beloved fixture on East 29th Street between Park Avenue South and Madison Avenue in Manhattan. Through both business dealings and everyday encounters, he formed lasting friendships that enriched his life and those around him.

Later in life, Donald remarried after meeting Linda. He loved traveling with her, and their love for each other grew as they explored new places and cultures together. She would become the love of his life.

He will be remembered not only for his technical brilliance but also for his sense of humor, big heart, and boundless creativity. Donald loved fishing and music-two passions that brought him joy throughout his life.

Donald is survived by his beloved wife Linda; his brother Frank; sons Anthony and Donald Jr.; and grandchildren Christian Mateo and Chiara Sophia. He was predeceased by his father Anthony and mother Serafina.

May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him and continue to inspire all who were touched by his remarkable journey. A Funeral Mass will be held on July 19, 2025, from 09:45 AM to 10:45 AM at Our Lady of Hope Church in Middle Village, NY 11379.

In recent years, your health had been fragile, but having Auntie Linda by your side was a blessing. Auntie Linda, I know you have working hard to take good care of Uncle. I hope you find strength in this difficult time. Please take care of yourself and hold on to the beautiful memories.

Aury & I and my entire family send our deepest condolences on the passing of your Father. Our prayers are with you during this time of grieving the loss of the earthly man but also rejoicing in the essence of his being his very soul returning to the Lord.
Just like my Mom your Father has a host of family and friends greeting him in Heaven. He will be in good hands for eternity.
I love you brother.
Remember always you did all any father could ask a son to do.
No regrets.
Lean upon your faith.
