Donald "Don" Lee Clark, 92, of Baldwinsville, NY, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 4, 2023, at The Terrace at Woodland in Rome, NY.
He was born in Oswego, NY, on July 16, 1930, to the late Floyd and Frances Clark. After graduating from Oswego High School, Don enlisted in the United States Air Force and became a Strategic Air Command B-52 Defensive Fire Control Systems Operator (tail gunner). During his distinguished 24 years of military service, he achieved the rank of Master Sergeant/First Sergeant, and was awarded numerous commendation medals as a veteran of the Cold War and the Vietnam War, including the distinguished, and rarely awarded, Chief Enlisted Aircrew Badge.
After retiring, Don and his wife Charlotte settled in Baldwinsville, NY, and travelled throughout the Eastern United States and Canada. He discovered his passion for Genealogy and became a member of The Central New York Genealogical Society. He used his ancestry database knowledge to assist his daughter Karen in becoming a Daughter of the American Revolution. Don had many hobbies and interests which included his love of music, reading, camping, boating, photography, and caning chairs. His family lovingly nicknamed him "Mr. Fix It Man," and his family thought of him as a Renaissance man.
Donald was predeceased by his wife of 69 years, Charlotte Ann Clark, in 2021. He is survived by his four daughters, Karen (Tim) Deblois of Poolesville, MD, Donna (Joe) Provost of Rome, NY, Cynthia (John Eddins) Clark of Chester, MD, and Kathy (Rich) Brewer of Horseheads, NY; 6 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Don and Charlotte are together forever and are interred in Bath National Cemetery in Bath, NY.
