Donald Crisler Obituary

Services for Donald M. Crisler, 72, of Longview, will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 22, 2006, at Mobberly Baptist Church, with Dr. Greg Zachary and Dr. Gene Petty officiating. Interment will follow in the mausoleum at Rosewood Park Cemetery in Longview. A native of Athens, La., Mr. Crisler was born November 1, 1933. He had lived in Longview since 1956. Mr. Crisler retired from Longview I.S.D. Transportation in 1994. He also worked for Spring Hill I.S.D. Transportation, LeTourneau University, and the Longview Police Department. Mr. Crisler also served in the U.S. Army and received his honorable discharge on March 31, 1961. He was an active member of Mobberly Baptist Church, where he served as a greeter for several years and was active in the Petty Sunday School Class. He adored his family and cherished and loved the times spent with them. Mr. Crisler also had a love for traveling. Mr. Crisler was preceded in death by his parents, W.M. and Dessie Hawk Crisler; and his brother, Dalton W. Crisler. Mr. Crisler is survived by his wife, Betty Davenport Crisler of Longview, whom he married December 22, 1962, in Longview; his children, Jeanette Brown Dooley of Lafayette, La., and Bruce Alan Crisler of Austin; his grandchildren, Leia Alexi Crisler and Leland Anderson Crisler; his brothers, Bill Crisler of Minden, La., Pete Crisler of Gilmer, Jim Crisler of Athens, La., and John Crisler of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Rita Williams of Shreveport, La.; and 14 nieces and nephews. Memorial contributions may be made to: the local chapter of the American Heart Association, 1125 Judson Rd., Ste. 150, Longview, TX 75601, or by phone at 1-800-AHA-USA1; or to the local chapter of the American Cancer Society, 1301 S. Broadway, Tyler, TX 75701, or by phone at 1-800-ACS-2345. Visitation was held from 6-8 p.m. Friday evening, July 21, 2006, at Rader Funeral Home of Longview. Those unable to attend services or visitation may go to www.raderfh.com, and sign the online memorial.
