Donald Hahamovitch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 26 to Jun. 27, 2015.
Donald died peacefully at home in Williamsburg, VA. "Hammy" is survived by Tina, his loving wife of 57 years; daughters Beth, Cindy, and Jessica; sons and daughter-in-law Daphyne, Scott, and Ric; beloved grandchildren Amanda, Renny, and Anne; wonderful friend and aunt Charna Foxman; and cousins. The son of Abraham Isaac and Hilda Hahamovitch (née Ornstein), Born (1935) and raised in Montreal, Don was extremely active in Hillel and B'nai Brith, serving as president of two B'nai Brith lodges, and of all Hillels in Montreal and Hillel and B'nai Brith in Florida. He was particularly active in providing senior housing to people of all faiths, and in Temple Beth El's Program and Darfur committees. An importer of kosher food in Montreal, he became an attorney in Florida and took clients regardless of their ability to pay. Special thanks to Tony White, caretaker and friend. Don will be remembered as a generous person, a devoted father, and as a loving husband. In lieu of flowers, donations to Balfour Hillel at the College of William & Mary, CSU 4531, P.O. 8793, Williamsburg, VA 23186.
