To all of the wonderful Hoegs. Today is the fifth anniversary of your Mom's death and I am sure she is so happy to have her wonderful husband with her. It doesn't seem possible that they are both gone, but will never be forgotten. They walked so many wonderful roads together. I guess that is why they met so young they had so much ground to cover. God Bless all of you. Love Aunt June

What can I say to honor such an aamzing Uncle? My greatest memories are my first trip to Vegas at age 21...Long Island in the Summer at Jones Beach...and piano playing at 313 S. Elmhurst...I echo Donald's sentiments. He and Aunt Pat wil live on in my memories and very soul. I am sure Heaven is rejoicing to have such a smiling happy soul among its residents. Watch over us Uncle Don and keep us all on the right path by always remember to find the joy in life---and smile a thoughtful smile.

On behalf of Dad's family, I want to express our thanks to all of you for the love and support you've shown us during this difficult year. It was wonderful to see so many of you over the last couple of days. We will treasure the time spent sharing stories about our father, looking back on his rich life that touched so many. It was surprising to discover how many of his friends and recent colleagues didn't know about Dad's extensive career background or his many accomplishments. This is a reflection of how humble he was.

In the end, our Dad's legacy to his extended family is more than his deep respect for knowledge and education. Dad was our family's moral compass. He taught us, by example, how to navigate life's most difficult challenges with both integrity and a sense of humor. Once we became adults Dad rarely, if ever, told his children “what to do”—no matter how sincerely we asked for his advice. This was a sign of his respect for our abilities. Therefore, to receive his larger legacy, we have few words to draw from and must examine his deeds, instead. To inherit Dad's greatest gift we must understand the quality of his character, and strive to emulate the love, compassion, honesty and loyalty he exhibited daily. Most importantly, Dad demonstrated that knowledge and good intentions are of no value without the courage of action.

The day after my father died I spoke with Ben Tedesco, one of my father's dear friends from St. Raymond's Church. I attempted to explain to Ben that while my heart is broken at the loss of my father, my soul is full of his presence. I said that Dad always generously accepted my limitations and failures, but he never ceased to challenge and encourage me. I will continue to look to him to inspire and guide me for the rest of my life. At this point in our discussion, Ben said to me, “Do you realize that when you talk about your father, you're describing God?”

From what I've heard, he's a lot like my Dad.

I am so sorry that Uncle Don has passed away. My father, Harry, loved his younger brother Don very much and was so touched and grateful that Don flew to NY to see him before he died in March 2010. I really cannot put into words how much Don's visit meant to him. I am sure that they have been reunited in heaven with Aunt Pat, their beloved sister Mary, brother-in-law Frank Carlin, nephew Dennis and parents Charlotte and Harry. My thoughts and prayers are with your family during this difficult time. WIth much love, from your cousin Pat.
