Arthur Dunne Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 7, 2025.
Arthur Joseph Dunne, age 83, passed away peacefully on August 18, 2025. Born in Boston, MA, Arthur lived a full and vibrant life in Jamaica Plain, East Bridgewater, New Ipswich NH, and Palmetto, FL. A proud graduate of Boston Trade, he dedicated his career to the automotive industry as an auto mechanic, service manager, and salvage parts manager.

Arthur was much more than his work-he was a passionate member of every community he touched. He coached and refereed youth sports, served as President of East Bridgewater Youth Basketball, and coached East Bridgewater Youth Soccer. Each holiday season, he brought joy playing "Santa Claus" at St. Coletta's Day School. Arthur was also a founding member and longtime President of the Wheels of Time of Massachusetts and was active for over 70 years with the Stick Shifts of Jamaica Plain, as both member and President.

Beyond his community service, Arthur enjoyed a life full of activity and adventure. He loved hot rods, boating, fishing, camping, and traveling across the East Coast in his hot rod. He had a gift for fixing anything mechanical, a joy for swimming and running 5K races, and a love for good coffee with his friends. One of Arthur's greatest gifts was his amazing storytelling. He loved to talk about the old days and tell jokes. His life was filled with humor. His friendships, many lasting from childhood through his final days, were a testament to his strong character, humor, and warmth.

He is survived by his children, Susan (Dunne) McHugh and Arthur J. Dunne III and son-in-law George A. McHugh; He is also survived by the mother of his children, Jean Wagner, his beloved grandchildren Sarahanne (McHugh) Lourenco, Ashley (McHugh) Russo, Daniel McHugh, Michel McHugh, and Carter Maturine-Dunne, his niece Tracy Dunne; and many lifelong friends. He was predeceased by his brother, John L. Dunne.

Arthur will be remembered for his deep love and support of his family, his devotion to community, and the joy with which he embraced life. His legacy of kindness, dedication, and storytelling will live on in all who knew and loved him.

Service Details: Friends and family are invited to a celebration of Arthur's life at the Irish Cultural Centre (ICC) Pub, 200 New Boston St. Canton, MA on October 4th, 2025 from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM.
