*DONALD EDWIN LEACH* age 89 of Sturgis, Michigan died early Wednesday morning September 26, 2007 at Thurston Woods Village in Sturgis, Michigan.

He was born October 26, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan a son to the late Edwin & Lillian (Youngs) Leach.

Don had resided in Sturgis since 1949 coming from Pontiac, Michigan.

On October 4, 1941 he married Alma L. Hagen in Lake Orion, Michigan. She died September 20, 2002.

Don was a self employed carpenter and a member of Carpenters Union Local #525 in Kalamazoo. He had also been employed for General Motors for 5 years as a machinist.

He had a love of model railroading and at one time had 28 engines and large working models in his basement. Don was a member of the National Rifle Association and enjoyed hunting, fishing and attending steam engine shows.

He is survived by 2 Daughters and their husbands, Carole Ann & Leslie James Mallow of Bronson and Judith & Dennis Parker of Three Rivers, 1 Son, Donald Leach, Jr. of Burr Oak, 5 Grandchildren, Douglas Edward (Jennifer) Leach of Howe, IN, Debra Ann (Mark) Hill of Bronson, James William (Lynette) Mallow of Bronson, Kimberly (Bruce) Coney of Stroh, IN and James (Carmen) Parker, 9 Great Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

His parents, wife, 1 son, John Daniel Leach, daughter-in-law, Mary Ruth Leach and 2 brothers, Richard Leach and Robert Leach preceded him in death.

The Rev. Jim Savasta of the Fellowship Bible Church in Centreville will officiate at private services with burial to follow at Oak Lawn Cemetery in Sturgis.

The *Rosenberg-Schipper Funeral Home* of Sturgis is handling the arrangements.

The family suggests those wishing to make a memorial donation in Mr. Leach’s memory consider Heartland Hospice 6126 Lovers Lane Portage, MI 49002 or the Fellowship Bible Church 21469 Banker Street Rd. Sturgis, MI 49091. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
