Donald Alan Light

Donald Alan Light (Don, Donny, Dad, Grandpy) 67, of Princeton, West Virginia passed away at Princeton Community Hospital at 8:22 PM on August 17, 2022 after a short illness.

Born in Oak Hill, WV on December 14, 1954, Don moved to Cleveland, Ohio at age 6 where he spent most of his life. He attended both John Marshall and West Tech High Schools where he excelled in track, particularly long-distance running. He joined the US Army at the tail-end of the Vietnam War and served a portion of that time in Germany before leaving to start a family.

Don was an avid chess fan and almost always had a book in his hand. Once his children started playing baseball and softball, he spent countless hours coaching them, something he truly enjoyed. During the latter part of his adult life, he worked as a journeyman electrician in the IBEW local 606, a career that filled him with great pride.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Robert Burton Light and Lucille Marshall Swope, and his brother Robert Jerell Light. Surviving relatives include his son, Robert Light (Carrie) of Strongsville, Ohio, his daughter Kristel Light of Tampa, Florida and his three grandchildren: Alyssa (his "snuggles"), Jillian, and Payton.

There will be no service. A celebration of life for close family and friends will be held at a later date.
