Donald Lisowski Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Feb. 16 to Feb. 20, 2011.
Lisowski, Donald Frank
was born March 21, 1933 in Buffalo NY to father Frank and mother Mariam. He was educated in the Jesuit tradition at Canisius High School and Canisius College and completed graduate work in Business Administration at the University of Michigan and Columbia. He was an outstanding two sport athlete (baseball and basketball), played baseball in college, and enjoyed a brief stint as a minor league pitcher. Don also enjoyed golf and was a member of various Arizona country clubs over the years, such as Desert Mountain, Firerock and Seven Canyons. Don's professional business career consisted of a 40+ year relationship with Moog Inc. The first half of that career saw his ascension to the Director of Sales & Marketing of the Moog Aerospace Group where he worked many exciting projects headlined by NASA's Mercury and Apollo programs. In the second half of his career, Don owned and operated a successful manufacturer's representative firm primarily selling Moog flight control products for commercial aviation to The Boeing Company. While his professional accomplishments were important, it was his friendships towards those from all walks of life and discrete generosity towards many who were less fortunate that proved to be his proudest legacy. Don passed away on February 14th in Los Gatos, CA after a brief bout with gastric cancer. Don is survived by Joan Ackerman, his loving wife of 55 years as well as children Robert, Barbara and Frank, and their spouses Mary, Michael and Carey and seven beautiful grandchildren, Laura, Donny, Mackenzie, Evan, Morgan, Courtney and Brooke.

Dear Mrs.Lisowski,Bob,Barb,Frank,Mary,Laura,and Donny:

I had the pleasure of meeting Mr. Lisowski, one of the finest gentlemen in the world, on Parents Weekend at Saint Bonaventure University.

I recall other people asking if he was Bob's older brother and how incredulous they were upon learning that he was in fact Bob's father!

Besides his outwardly handsome appreance, it is his soft manner and his genuine interest in meeting you that I have always remember about him.

Like his father, Bob has inherited his smile and the fine qualities of a true gentleman. What a great legacy.

May your memories of him grow stronger and your pain and sorrow deminish with time.

With our deepest sympathy,

Tom, Dianne, Michael and Leigh Giangreco

We were shocked to see Don's obituary in the paper. He seemed so vital and young...so much life yet to live. Don was a gracious man--a friend and professional associate. Don was a leader in getting people together and making things happen--as evidenced by all the Moog products on Boeing airplanes. It was a pleasure to cross paths with him in this life. Our deepest condolences to Joan and the family. May your wonderful memories bring you peace, Curt Chenoweth & Marlene Nelson

"Don was a person who was fitting the description of a gentleman better than anyone I have known. I shall never forget his greetings with a smile and his willingness to please people, even in the most difficult situations. Like many others, I will miss him and remember him as a great friend and I always looked forward to working with him."......Sven-Lasse Lassen (Bellevue, WA)

Don was one of my favorite people when we worked together, he for Moog and I for Boeing. Such a gentleman, a professional, and a wonderful human being. He has been the standard against which I measure all supplier reps since 1990.

I send thoughts and prayers to the Lisowski family -- I'm so sorry for your loss.

My heartfelt condolences to Don's family and friends. Each time our paths crossed I was impressed with his demeanor and professionalism. I always thought he was the picture of health, as I'm sure his family did as well, so his passing is unsettling for us all. Sincerely,

Love you, Dad. xo
