Donald Ray McCrary was born in Fort Worth Texas on June 16, 1944 to his loving mother Tommie Lee Johnson. Don accepted Jesus Christ and was baptized at an early age. He graduated from I. M. Terrell High School, Fort Worth, Texas; attended Jarvis Christian College, Hawkins, Texas, and served in the United States Air Force. Don married the beautiful Delores Jean Williams on December 24, 1964 in Fort Worth, Texas. The proud parents of four children, Don Damone McCrary and Derrick Lyle McCrary (preceded in death), Donald Darnell McCrary of Martinez and Dina LaVette McCrary of West Hollywood, California. In response to his wife's calling to ministry, he supported her graduation from seminary and ministry activities at the Second Baptist Church of Martinez. He was employed for 29 years with Tosco Oil Refinery as an Inspector. Don was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying camping, boating and fishing. He loved a variety of music; Jazz, Blues, Gospel, and regularly attended The Monterey Blues Festival. He took pride in his home, with do it yourself home improvement projects. Don's Grandmother-Rosie Johnson, Mother-Ester Miller, and brother Charles McCrary all preceded him in death. Donald R. McCrary departed this life On January 30, 2017. He leaves to cherish his memory: His wife of 52 years Delores McCrary, son Donnie and daughter Dina. His three sisters Winifred Jean Johnson, of Vallejo, Jacque/Jill (Kenneth) Archie of Martinez, Carolyn Kay McCrary of Oakley. Grandchildren-Jordan McCrary, Abraham White-McCrary, Benjamin White-McCrary and Jeanae Raylynn McCrary with a host of nieces, nephews and friends. A Visitation will be held from 10AM~12PM on Saturday, February 11th with a Funeral Service to follow at 12PM both at Connolly & Taylor Funeral Chapel.
