Donald D. Reasy

Donald D. Reasy, 80, of Mesa, Arizona, passed away on November 7, 2012. Born in Lemmon, South Dakota, to Ross and Marie (Burrows) Reasy, Don arrived on December 9, 1931.

Don is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marge (Kostelecky) Reasy; daughter, Renee (Reasy) Craig; grandson, Cameron Craig; sisters, Marjorie Gilroy, Jean Sides, and Kelly McIntyre, along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Marie Reasy; brothers, Ross and Charles Reasy; and sisters, Frances Evans and Irma Beebe.

Don enlisted in the United States Navy in 1951. He served his country in the Korean Was as a Machinist's Mate Second Class on the USS Wiltsie DD-716 (Destroyer) and the USS Hancock CV-19 (Air Craft Carrier) until 1960.
Just before leaving home for the Navy he went on a "blind" date with a gal named Marge. That blind date never ended. They were married in Long Beach, CA on November 9, 1952.

After his service in the Navy they moved to Seattle, Washington where he got a job at Smith Berger's as a Machinist. His favorite part of the job was traveling to Alaska to work on the machines in the Canneries.

In 1974, they moved to Woodinville, Washington. Don always had a passion for operating heavy equipment. By 1976 they had joined a partnership with Edward and Ginger Mallory in a Land Development Construction Company. Don always loved to go to work. He would say, "I can't wait to get out there and get on a machine. I love my job!

In 1982, they thought they would tryout being "Snowbirds". They loved Arizona so much that they sold their house in Washington and settled here in Mesa. Don soon found that he had another passion … Golf. He enjoyed it so much that he became one the original Golf Club Member, a long time Pro Shop employee, served on the board of the Golf Association. He was the one responsible for bringing the swans to their ponds at Sunland Village East where they live.

The first thing people noticed about Don was his sense of humor, laugh and his smile.

Private services will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 Southeast 240th Street, Kent, Washington 98042 in the summer of 2013.
