Donald K. Robinson, 79, a resident of Morgan County, passed from this life on Monday, December 26th, 2011 at 10:48 p.m. at St. Francis Hospital & Health Center in Indianapolis. Donald was born in Monroe County, Indiana, on June 1, 1932. He was one of six children born to the late Ernest Eugene and Inez Gail (Brown) Robinson. On August 4, 1956 he married Ruth Ann (Neal) Robinson. She preceded him in death on August 8, 2009. He grew up in Bloomington and graduated from Bloomington High School with the class of 1951. Following graduation, he became a barber and was the owner of the Dolan Barber Shop throughout the 1960's. He also barbered at Indiana University in Bloomington for many years. In 1970, he and his late wife, Ruth Ann, became owners of the Royal Restaurant in Martinsville, which they owned until 1975. He also worked as a dispatcher and a turn key during the 1960's – 1980's at both the Monroe County Morgan County Sheriff Departments. In the late 70's, he went to work at Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis and remained there until his retirement in 1998, after 20 years of employment. Don was a member of the Masonic Lodge #74 F & AM in Martinsville and a past member of the Martinsville Elks Lodge #1349, where he was bartender for many years. He enjoyed auctions, garage sales, reading, western movies and books, and trying his luck at lottery tickets on his spare time. Many will remember his outgoing personality and gentle nature. He is survived by a host of family and friends who will miss him dearly including two sons, Denney (wife, Debbie) and Timothy Robinson both of Martinsville; daughter, Beth Ann Robinson of Indianapolis; ten grandchildren, Derrik, Hans, Christian, Chad, Ryan and Courtney Robinson, Dawn Wilson, Dara Jackson, Kristen & Mindy Melek and thirteen great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife of 53 years, Ruth Ann Robinson; daughter, Stephanie Robinson in 1987; brother, Robert Dale Robinson and four sisters, Madge Gorman, Mary Lou Blackmore, Eva Hollars and Chloe Robinson. Family and friends are invited to visit on Thursday, December 29th from 5-8:00 p.m. and one hour prior to service on Friday at Neal & Summers Funeral and Cremation Center. A Celebration of Life Service will be on Friday, December 30th beginning at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pleasant View Cemetery in Unionville, Indiana. Memorial contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 and/or the Manna Mission, 65 W.
