Donald Seme Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Dec. 14, 2024.
Donald (Don) J. Seme, aged 74, passed away on December 10, 2024, in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on April 3, 1950, Don's life was marked by his dedication to his family, his work, and his country.

Don grew up attending St. Peter & Paul's primary school and later Garfield High School, before furthering his education at Cuyahoga Community College. His strong work ethic was evident early on and continued throughout his life.

In 1969, Don proudly served in the US Navy aboard the USS Forrestal until 1973. His time in the military was a significant chapter in his life, showcasing his commitment and resilience. Following his service, Don channeled his leadership skills into a successful career, initially working as a Cottage Administrator for the Cleveland Boys School in Hudson, Ohio. He later operated and owned two transportation companies, where he continued to lead with distinction.

Don was a man who loved life and found joy in the simple pleasures. He was known for his ability to find humor in any situation and took pride in everything he accomplished. An avid outdoorsman, Don enjoyed driving and riding his motorcycle, taking care of his yard, and decorating his house for the holidays. He was also passionate about DIY projects, a hobby that allowed him to express his creativity and skill.

He is survived by his loving wife, Betty; daughter, Melanie (Wayne) Morth; grandchildren, Alex and Lindsay ; great-grandchildren, Nevaeh and Zavion ; and companion, Patricia Tamburro. Don was preceded in death by his parents, John and Mildred (Stawicki) Seme; son, James Seme; and sister, Joyce (Seme) Warner.

A service to honor Don's life and legacy will be held at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman at a later date. His life was a testament to the love he had for his family, friends, and his country, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

My husband Dave and Don were best friends since at least high school at Garfield Heights. We enjoyed time spent together as they both grew older. My sympathy to Betty and the family. I can only imagine them, now together again in heaven.

Don and my late husband Mike MacDowell loved to ride their motorcycles and hang out with the guys. Don was a wonderful person and very good friend to Mike and myself. I am sad to say that I did not keep in touch like I should have. Prayers to his family, Patti and many friends.
