SAVANNAH, Mo. - Donald Bruce "Don" Shineman, 56, Savannah, died Thursday, Jan. 25, 2007, at the V.A. Hospital in Leavenworth, Kan.
Don was born Feb. 5, 1950, at Fairfax, Mo., to William and Margaret (Hawes) Shineman.
He served in the U.S. Army and had worked as a substance abuse counselor for Family Guidance Center, St. Joseph, Mo.
Don was a loyal Willie Nelson fan and loved playing marbles at the Country Cabin Café in Savannah. Don was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Savannah.
Don married Donna Jean Thornton on Dec. 5, 1984, at Savannah. She preceded him in death on June 22, 1999.
Also preceding in death were his parents; and a sister, Shirley Morgan.
Survivors: son, Cory Shineman; daughter, Dawn Sherman; stepdaughter and husband, Angela and Wally Weber, Princeton, Mo.; brothers, William L. (Ronnee) Shineman Jr., Seattle, Wash.; Gabe (Alta) Shineman, Stanberry, Mo.; and Truby (Kathy) Shineman, Seattle, Wash.; sisters, Suzanne Fitzgerald, Kansas City, Mo.; Jo Beth Schaeffer, Oregon, Mo.; Kathy (Dave) Howell, Maryville, Mo.; and Tonya (Marion) Oswald, Fairfax, Mo.; grandchildren, Christopher Herrod, Savannah; and Jessica Bramble and Emily Weber, both of Princeton; and several nieces and nephews.
Wake service: 2 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 28, 2007, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Savannah. Mass of Christian Burial: 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 29, at the church. Inurnment of cremains, with full military honors, at Bennett Lane Cemetery, Savannah. Arrangements: Breit-Hawkins & Gladden Funeral Home, Savannah.
Memorials: to Alcoholics Anonymous or St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church.
