Donald Ellis Simmons, 76, of Savannah, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2014. Heaven gained a wonderful Christian Soul.

He was preceded in death by his son, Donald S. Simmons, Mother, Myrtice H. Simmons, Father, Ellis M. Simmons, and Brother, Robert L. Simmons.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Georgia Ellen Simmons, a beautiful granddaughter, Catherine Elaine Simmons, daughter-in-law, Amy Clark Simmons. A sister, Sandra E. Bateman of Griffin, Georgia., a brother, Tony R. Simmons and spouse Gloria, of Griffin, Georgia, a sister-in-law, Joyce Dickerson and spouse Mike, of Virginia Beach, VA and, a brother-in-law Jerry K. Weldon and spouse Pam, of Butler, Georgia. Several Nieces and Nephews.

Don was a person that loved his Savior and testified to many during his life time and especially at the Dr's offices and nurses who attended him. The family wishes to thank each and every Dr., nurse, and Hospice Care for the loving care he received during his short illness.

Don attended Georgia State College in Atlanta, worked for the U.S. Government as an accountant and U.S. Customs Inspector, retiring in 1998. He and Ellen traveled for several years and then he went to work for H & R Block for 8 years.

He was a faithful member at Griffin Assembly of God, Griffin, Georgia and Sunset Chapel in Miami, Florida as teacher, Sunday School Superintendent, Choir member and Deacon.

He served as Deacon, Secretary and Treasurer at Radiant Life Assembly of God, Savannah, Georgia for a total of 42 years. He also, served as Secretary-Treasurer at Radiant Life for 9 years and continued serving until he became too ill to continue.

Don was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and loved to work with people, especially with those who would talk to him about God.

Viewing will be Monday night from 6 – 8 p.m. at Fairhaven Funeral Home, Hubert C. Baker Chapel at 7415 Hodgson Memorial Drive, and the Service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Radiant Life Assembly of God on Skidaway Road, Savannah, Ga,.
Pastor David Stanton will officiate with Rev. Buddy Cribb and Bishop Paul Hodge. Songs by Pastor Brenda Stanton and Pastor Melody Carrillo.

Interment will follow in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
