Donald Spence Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 24, 2015.
Donald B. Spence was born August 6, 1921 and passed to Heaven on June 23, 2015 at home with family after a long illness.

Donald was a wonderful son, great brother, a loving husband, super dad and granddad, and great golf buddy to many friends. Donald and Dorothy were blessed with 64 years of marriage. They spent many happy hours at Lake Texhoma and Lake Eufaula with their children and grandchildren.

Donald served in the US Navy during WWII. Donald was a factory rep for John D. Harvey during his career in auto parts sales. Donald was a 33 degree Mason. His later years were spent on many golf courses, mainly Lincoln Park where he began playing at age 15.

Donald was predeceased by his mother, father, wife and brothers. He is survived by his son Donald Spence, Jr., daughter Dana, grandson Landon Spence, granddaughter Denise Spence and three great grandchildren.

We are sure it was a joyful reunion in Heaven with his family. Dad is now "Golfing in the Kingdom".

The family's heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Joyce Gooden, Dad's loving caretaker and helper to the family.

My fathers name was Lloyd Hines. He also was in the Navy in WW II. A man named Spence (I never heard his first name) visited my dad when he was in the hospital back in the late 80's (my dad died in 1991). I am wondering if this was the same man who visited my father. My name is Bill Lloyd Hines.

I remember his wife Dorothy too. Nice neighbors and fellow Queen Anne patrons back in the day.

My father was Bruce G. Spence. He died in 1984. His father and Don's father were brothers. I am the only survivor of my family at age 80. You have my sincere condolences. Don was a real gentleman and loved by all.
