Donald Forbes Thompson

Donald Thompson, whose life was marked by creativity, kindness, and dedication to family, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2025.

Born in Ancon, Panama Canal Zone, Don's life began at a unique intersection of history and innovation. He earned his degree in Industrial Design from the University of Cincinnati's College of Design, Architecture, and Art. Launching his career under the mentorship of the renowned Raymond Loewy, Don went on to establish a global business specializing in the interior design and completion of large aircraft - serving private, corporate and government clients. His expertise with Gulfstream, Airbus and Boeing jets earned him respect and admiration from peers worldwide.

Don's commitment extended beyond his professional life. He was deeply engaged at the West End Collegiate Church, where he was a deacon and elder, providing thoughtful guidance across many committees. His compassionate service enriched the lives of many in his community.

Most precious to Don was his family. He is survived by his wife Paula, his daughter Liana (husband Andre) and his granddaughter Olivia. As a family, they created a world full of love, light, and laughter.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, September 12, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at West End Collegiate Church, 245 West 77th Street, New York, NY.
