Donald Yee Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 23, 2012.
Donald (Don) N. Yee, a native of Sacramento, CA passed away peacefully on March 22, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 80 years old. Born on October 27, 1931, the oldest of 8 children, Don attended William Land Elementary School, California Junior High School, McClatchy Sr. High School and Sacramento State College where he earned a degree in Accounting. He retired from the County of Sacramento, Dept. of General Services after 22 years as their Chief Fiscal Accountant. Don was an avid 49er fan, loved cooking, classic & action movies, a good scotch and wood working. He was a member of the Sacramento Area Woodworkers (SAW). His last big wood working project was for Sisters Animal Sanctuary, a non-profit cat rescue, where he really enjoyed building 10 movable platforms and a dozen scratch boxes. See photos on their blog http://sistersanimal.blogspot.com/

Dear Joyce, Doreen and Denise, I have enjoyed hearing stories of your family adventures and accomplishments over the years. I am impressed by your devotion to one another. I only hope Don knew how much he was loved and honored. Continue to look out for each other. Marlene Sherman

Dear Joyce, Doreen and Family
My heart and sympathy are with you. Don was a wonderful and giving person. He worked at Sisters Animal Sanctuary building those wonderful platforms for our cats and did such a beautiful job. He and Doreen made a great team and we appreciate all they have done for us. Don will always be remembered fondly and if the kitties could they would be sending him a big purr. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

Warmly,
Julie Lindsey

To Joyce "Mrs. Yee", Doreen, and Denise-- I'm sorry to learn of your loss; my thoughts are with you. It's hard to believe that over 30 years have passed, since Don said, "We're having New York Strip!" for the color guard party at your home. Ever since then, the Mandarins have been known for the best food in drum corps. May memories of these and other happy times help ease your sorrow. ~ Scott Jow

Joyce, Dorine and Denise, I was so saddened by the announcement in the paper this morning regarding the death of your father. I didn't know your husband/father as well as I knew you all but to have such a fine family is always a tribute to a parent. I wanted you to know that I am thinking of you and since I go to the Sutter Cancer Center as well, I will make a donation there in the memory of your father. I will say a prayer for him and hope that your grief is softened by the support extended to you all by your friends and family.

Love and Peace to you all. Susan Bargas
