My sympathy to the family. I went to elemenatary school with Donavon. He was a great guy. A friend like no other. I had the wonderful opportunity to meet his wife and introduce him to my children.
Always with a smile, he could light up the room.

Donavon will be sadly missed by all that have met him. His gentle demeanor and heart spoken words will be with us forever. He worked with the Youth Organizations where his passion was to help the young people of today – whether it was to get their self esteem to where it would grow to have them become who they really are or to help in their everyday crisis, big or small.
When he was hired to work with us on the Youth Justice Forum 6 yrs ago - he was one of the 12 that stood out as a caring individual that was ready to help change the world.
He always had a great optimistic view – when we had our impromptu meetings at Street Culture Café during breakfast time - that helped in some of my everyday client needs.
When asked about how his children are doing – he would get this smile and look that made it look like he was beaming – and he would proudly tell a story of what one of them had done and have a humorous laugh at the end.
I was so happy for him when he went overseas with David C. To hear him talk of their adventure – put a new spark in his life.
I was always sad for him, as I know everyone also was, when he needed to change his medication and it took a long time to get back to his old happy self.
In closing I will say: Donavon was a great father, spouse and friend who will be missed.
Donavon’s life was way too short, but lucky for everyone, his time with us was meaningful to all he crossed paths with. I will think of him often, as he was the ‘special person’ that worked with us to help change the lives of youth for the betterment of themselves and our community.

Rosalid and Caldwell Family: Our prayers and thoughts are with the family during this time. I had the pleasure of meeting Donavin a couple of years ago and he was always a happy person who dearly loved his family and friends. This past summer we met at the Pow-wow in Cowessess to honor family members who had passed away, my heart goes out to the family. When we lost our parents last year Donavin was there to help support our family during our loss. My apologies to the Caldwell family for not able to be at his wake and funeral. He is on his spiritual journey and is with loved ones who has passed onto the spirit world. R.I.P
God bless you all. -Ekosi-
