Donna Gailey Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 19, 2008.
Donna Lee Gailey, 58 PORTLAND -- Donna Lee Gailey, 58, died Tuesday, June 17, 2008, at Maine Medical Center having lost a courageous fight with lung cancer. Donna will be sadly missed by her loving husband, family and friends. Donna was born March 24, 1950, in Nashua, N.H., the daughter of the late John T. and Claire E. (Gould) Coles. She attended a local school there until the family relocated to Portland when her father, a supervisor at Cudahy's Meat, was transferred Donna was a graduate of Manchester High School, Manchester, Conn., and soon after married the love of her life, Dwight Gailey. They lived most of there almost 40 years together in Westbrook where they raised their two daughters. They would have been married 40 years in September. Donna worked most of her career in the medical field which she loved. She was most recently employed as office manager for Dr. Herzog in Scarborough. In keeping with her passion of care giving, she helped everyone in anyway she could. Recently she continued her loving care and help to her father who lost his own brave battle with lung cancer just two months ago. She loved her home and gardening. Her beautiful rock gardens were so unusual that she often found strangers wandering in her yard admiring them. Donna and her husband loved to travel and recently added cruises to their total enjoyment of life. Another joy of their life is their two year old granddaughter, Shyla. Donna is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Dwight Gailey of Westbrook; daughters Jody and Katrina of Portland; her granddaughter Shyla; her sister Susan D. McLaughlin of California, four brothers, Ronald J. Coles and his wife Norma of Florida, John M. Coles and his wife Tina, Marty L. Coles and his wife June and Bruce W. Coles all of Connecticut; also many loving nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Friday, June 20, 2008, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Jones, Rich & Hutchins Funeral Home, 199 Woodford St., Portland. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Lynne Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Brooklawn Memorial Park, Portland.
