Donna Hodges Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jan. 1, 2025 to Dec. 29, 2024.
Donna Lee Beard Hodges, known endearingly as Donna to her friends and family, passed away serenely on the 27th of December, 2024, at the age of 79, in New Albany, MS. Born on September 11, 1945, in St. Charles, IL, to Wilbur Lincoln Beard and Betty Genevive Brace Beard, Donna grew up to be a pillar of strength and heart for all who knew her.

She was preceded in passing by her parents and sisters, Alice Weikert and Deanna Beard. Donna is survived and lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Donald Hodges, of New Albany; her son Geffrey Bland of Republic, MO; and stepson Rich Hodges (Harriet) of Apison, TN. She was a caring sister to Cheryl Stone of Oldfield, MO. She took joy in the lives of her grandchildren, Dustin Bland (Deanna) of Republic, MO, and Chastity Bland of Battlefield, MO, and cherished moments with her three great-grandchildren: Hayden, Aster, and Holden Bland of Republic, MO.

Donna was the proud owner/operator of The Looking Glass Beauty Salon in Myrtle, MS, where she dedicated 47 years of service until her retirement in 2011. She was a very faithful member of Harmony Baptist Church, taking pleasure in beautifying the church for special occasions and being an integral part of various committees throughout the years. Donna lived out her calling as a lifelong servant of her community and family, investing endless hours into the things she loved the most.

Those who were fortunate enough to know Donna would describe her as loving, kind, and selfless. Her warmth radiated through every action, every decoration she crafted, and every life she touched. Donna Hodges' unwavering light will continue to shine in the cherished memories she leaves behind, a testament to a life beautifully lived and a legacy of love that will endure.

A visitation will be held on Monday, December 30, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. and again on Tuesday, December 31 from 9:00 a.m. until funeral service time at 11:00 a.m. All times will be at United Funeral Service.
